"It's not much of a lunch, but then again, this isn't much of a home."
(His words echoed slightly in the expanse.)

He stared at him.
"But that's... but that's..."
And though the stammering bode ill at first, he had actually begun smiling.
"...that's because you're a bachelor," he said, teeth starting to show. "Remember?"

"Well, yes," he conceded, relieved that Adrien was smiling.

"You gotta do more than live here, you know. It's okay. I'm working on it."
He was more than smiling at this point. He was beaming.

Adrian smiled with inexplicable sadness.
"Well, that's why I have you," he said quietly, reaching forward to brush a hand along Adrien's jaw.

Adrien bit his lip and then took another spoonful of cottage cheese.
His hands weren't at all shaking anymore, but he looked suspiciously overwhelmed, and had to calm himself down.
A few bites later, he looked up again. "Adrian?" he called. "Do you think...we could have some tea?"

"I really would."
He was nearly done. He'd been very, very hungry. He wondered if he could get Adrian to order a pizza.

Within a few minutes, a tea kettle was set to boil on the stove and Adrian was settled beside him again.

Adrien pushed the bowl onto a coffee table which he had never actually seen Adrian set anything down on and slid closer to him. He smelled like a familiar woman's perfume, and another person's dress was currently molded to his body, but it was his body and it was his posture, and that would have to be familiar too. How many other young men pulled themselves half-into his lap like this, nuzzled him like that, down to the secure little exhale as he breathed in and then - for the first time in hours - relaxed?

He absently stroked Adrien's hair with his good hand and sighed.

Adrien tilted his head back and leaning it on Adrian's shoulder.
He was about to ask, "Do you forgive me?", but what came out instead was, "Can I have a back rub?", and in a suspiciously fond, but teasing way.

He cast a dark glance at his own hand.
"For all the good it'll do..."

"Good can be done on small levels, too, you know!" said the boy enthusiastically. "On areas closer to home..." He nudged him.

He forced a smile.
