"That's strange. I wonder why it's usually Paris..."
He drummed his fingers on the tabletop thoughtfully.
"I can tell when it happened to me. I was on the way to London from California. California was the same it always was, but London was this weird 19the Century thing we're in right now. Must've happened while we were in the air."

"That's a first actually" Jess nodded "I hear there's a school in Paris that's recording these phenomena. They said most of the time people forget that they were from another place, and end up fitting right in with the 19th century crowd."

"Really? I wonder what they think of the ones who don't forget."
He was referring to, not just himself, but a few others that he'd seen. Pepper, for one, seemed to be the same as she'd always in even though she was now in what she called a "steampunk" 19th Cen. California.

"I have no idea, I imagine they'd find us a terrific study and ask an ass load of questions" she shrugged.

((Man, I shouldn't have said Steampunk Cally...now I have images from the Wild Wild West movie stuck in my head))
"Ehhh, I'm not so big on getting the third degree."
Finally, their drinks arrived, the waittress giving them a polite smile.
"Are you ready to order?"

((Oh gross, lol.))
Jess looked up with a smile as the waitress took their orders.
She watched Tony carefully, there was no denying he was a good looking man, it was Robert Downy Jr. in Stark for god sakes, but she was in no shape to be thinking about good looking men, she was in no shape to be thinking about good looking anything.

The order taken, the waittress gave them a farewell smile before moving off to call the order into the kitchen.
Stark took a sip from his drink.
"So...I'm curious. Why London? Not that there's anything wrong with London, but with all the choices in the world..."

"This is where is all happened" she said softly and she tapped her fingers against the glass "I brought them all here in some insane attempt to kill my brother and anyone that he cared about, in fact I believe it happened the same day you and I went to the museum" she laughed "I don't remember a lot about it, I remember stealing a cab and throwing furniture at people" she looked up at Tony "just don't ask me how I did it, it's too much to tell, really."
She was completely serious, praying that he didn't ask.

"I won't ask." He said, all seriousness now.
"It's the same thing with my being in Afghanistan--I don't really need to keep throwing the details around."

"Than you understand."
Although I'm sure Tony would understand about me having magic powers, than Bruce ever could.
Jess continued to tap her fingers lightly "So I thought, who would look for me here? I mean I "died" here, but they never looked for my body, so if anyone thought I was still alive, then the smart thing would have been to skip town right? So in my line of logic London is the safest place for me and my secret."

Stark nodded.
"If there's no one in London who knows you, then you're likely to live here without ever being bothered."
He pursed his lips thoughtfully.
"I'd move where all the Iron Man stuff is to here, but there's still too many that know me, it looks like."
Paris, on the other hand... (well, the weird Paris...)

"Understandable" Jess took a long drink of her water and turned her head toward an open window, her fingers now calm against the glass, but unmoving.
Why is it these damn thoughts always come at the wrong time? I mean really? Why can't I just think about my future in exile without those thoughts coming in to my brain? Damn you Tony for being so bloody delicious.

((He has that effect on the ladies))
He was about to say more when the waittress arrived with their food, the aroma almost arriving before before she did.
"Here you are!" She said brightly, setting their dishes before them. "If you need anything else, just wave me over."
"Now this," Tony said, grinning. "Is good service."

((For rizzle))
Jess smiled thanking god for the sudden appearance of the waitress, nodding politely Jess picked up her fork and started eating.
