He was so taken aback by this that for a moment he could only stare, and then he laughed a warm, genuine laugh, only a little like the former pitiful a-heh! noise.

He stood on tip-toe to kiss him.

Adrian lifted him to return the kiss.
"Now then. Get ready for the park."

And so, they went. More photographs were taken, people whispered, and Adrian kept an affectionate, protective arm around Adrien the whole time.

Adrien was an excitable thing the whole while, and also rather oddly ravishing in his androgynous mod frock, worn with the shorn hair and a swipe of nude lipstick, and certainly his gender was hard to guess.
Although the concept would have been alien to Adrien, he'd probably convinced most viewers that Adrian was merely in love with a male-bodied transgendered female. He was still rosy and exhuberant from having spent so much time amongst trees and beautiful plants when they returned to the hotel, and seemed mostly to be used to such unwanted, unusual attention from strangers.
"Adrian," he exclaimed, not noticing a twig in his hair, "I wish we could have made love there, on a picnic blanket. It would have been such heaven."

Adrian brushed the twig away.
"Let's not get ahead of ourselves."

"I think it may have been rather awkward in those surroundings, I'm afraid."

"On a blanket on the grass? I somehow doubt that's as entertaining as it sounds."
