*Kathy sat back down, laughing so hard now she had to cover her face with her hands.*
"Mam n' Da'll think we've lost our minds!"

"Mam an Da aren't going to find out." *He kissed her on the tip of her nose and pulled his jacket back on.*

*She just raised her eyebrows and grinned, rolling her eyes and shaking her head slightly as the train began to slow.*

*Michael picked up the luggage and jerked his head toward the door.*
"Can ye get that, Kath?" *He smiled a bit sheepishly and helplessly, as his hands were full of bags and trunks.*

*Kathy went and slid open the door to the compartment, holding it open so Michael could ease through.*
"Can I take something?" *she said, reaching for one of the bags.*

"No!" *He laughed.* "I can't let ye carry anythin', Kath."

"Why the hell not?" *she asked with minor irritation, taking one of the bags from him.*

*He snatched it back.*
"Just get off the train." *He said good-naturedly, as it stopped.*

*Rolling her eyes, she swung down to the last step before hopping lightly onto the platform, turning back to face him.*
"Give me a bleedin' bag, Mikey. Mam'll think I've gone soft."

*He rolled his own.*
"Kath, ye're not carryin' the bag, it's no problem, let it go." *He was still slightly teasing.*

*Kathy opened her mouth to argue but a pair of strong arms slipped around her waist and hauled her off her feet to spin in a circle.*
"RORY THOMAS KELLY PUT ME DOWN!" *she roared, but she was giddy with happiness under her mock-anger.*

*Michael just laughed and elbowed Rory.*
"Rory Kelly put down my wife!" *He cried, laughing all the while.*

*Rory did just that but turned to Michael and got him in a headlock.*
"Run Kathy! Run while ye still can!" *he teased, ruffling Michael's hair.*

"And sooner than ye think," *said Kathy, running to her Mam and throwing her arms around her.*
"An' ye've come home at last then, me girl..."
"I have, Mam. For a little while." *She smiled and then she saw a lumbering man, once strong and handsome, bent now, and walking with a cane and still helped by a boy of thirteen with reddish hair. He looked up, saw Kathy and smiled.*
"Da, our Kathy's come back!" *said Neill excitedly.*
"I can still see, me boy," *he said gruffly, but already beaming at his only daughter.*
"Darra, hold yer bitter old tongue, now, and say hello to Kathy," *said Sorcha Kelly good-naturedly in her usual self-contradicting way.*
"Mary Kathleen...my Mary Kathleen," *he said softly, reaching out to brush a lock of hair from her eyes before he drew her into his arms.*
"Hello, Da..." *she whispered, afraid she might cry.*
