"Why would you need my blessing, Vati? I'm your son- if anything, I should have asked you for yours..."

"I need your blessing because you're my son." The count finally sat down, heaving another sigh.
"Herbert, you're the world to me... what you think matters to me. A lot. If you don't want me to marry Belle, then..." He swallowed hard. "Then I won't."
Actually saying that made it even scarier than just thinking it, but it was the truth. Johannes needed his son's blessing, it was as simple as that.

"As though I would ever stand in your way- I mean, Vati, you know I only turned her because she wanted to be with you..."

"So... I have your blessing to make Belle my wife?" In spite of all that had been said, the count still looked anxious.
He loved Belle more than he'd ever thought he'd be able to love a woman... but his son would always come first.
No blessing, no wedding.

"Yes. Of course."

This time it was as if a massive weight had been lifted from Johannes' shoulders. Herbert approved... with his blessing, he would be able to propose to the woman he loved.
Who knew, perhaps there could be a happy end for vampires after all?
"Thank you, my son... this means more to me than I can ever express."

"It was nothing."
Herbert's smile was a bit confused; it really had felt like nothing, too.

The confused smile only served to confuse the count as well.
"Herbert... is something wrong?"
Perhaps his son didn't truly mean it, perhaps he just wanted to say the right thing and didn't really mean it? Could it be that Herbert did not truly want him to marry Belle?

"I just don't see why my silly little opinion should have any bearing on this, is all."

"You're my son... what goes on in my life affects you as well. After all, in a way... Belle will be your stepmother." Krolock half-smiled.
It was a bit of a strange notion, really... but it was true.
