He sighed.
"I'm not used to this. It's a lot at once."

Miles shifted a little, uncomfortably, watching him almost pensively. "Do you trust me not to try and hurt you?" he said, in a sort of timid, but insistent way. "You have got to trust me. I'm gentle as a lamb, you know, as a lamb to a lion."

"I don't think you mean any harm."
He patted Miles' arm.
"I believe you."

Miles smiled, almost in spite of himself, the patting considerably lightening his spirits. The elevator stopped, and they reached their floor, and Miles took László by the arm again to lead him out congenially.
"But don't be gullible, my angel," he said. "We wouldn't want you to... ah." He looked momentarily perplexed. "Do you remember which of these is my room? One moment, I shall be sure to... No, wait..."

"Gullible? I wouldn't have lasted this long if I was." He said with a wink.
"Miles?" He tapped his shoulder and pointed at a connecting hallway.
"That way."

Miles' look of chagrin was somewhat ruined by his half-dazed smile. "Aha. Right. Forgive me, but your Grecian youth is so distracting," he said lazily, half-skipping down the hallway and taking his key out.
He ushered László in with a stereotypical little hand gesture.

He followed Miles with an amused expression on his face. The other man was so...well, bouncy.
"You flatter too much, you know." He said amiably, once they were in the room.

"Not enough," he said with a coy little smile once they were in, tossing himself airily into a chair. "Why, László, if I sang your praises truthfully we'd be here all night."

Miles waggled his eyebrows at him.
"Don't feign modesty, darling. It doesn't become you."
He was already smiling, though struggling not to, when he said with a jesting tone, a pause later, "Well, of course it does, but have mercy on a weak man, won't you? Don't want me pouncing."

"I'm not feigning..."
He had a feeling that particular subject could have them going in circles, and he'd rather things stayed pleasant.
"Can't quite imagine you pouncing someone."

Miles crossed his legs and gazed up at László innocently, folding his hands in his lap. Had László noticed the chipped polish the previous night, he might have noticed it was reapplied now. Miles had been in a good enough mood to finally sever that little tie. It was a sign of something dangerous heading Miles' way.
"Do I have to demonstrate?"

He shook his head with a chuckle.
"No, I'll take your word for it."
Finally, he sat down, sprawling casually in the rather large chair.

Miles loved the daytime more than he loved the night, even though he was half nocturnal with his party schedule (or had been when there had been one). The sunlight drifting through the windows... Unfortunately, everything looked cheaper then, but it was so much more pleasant, if tragically real.
Miles propped himself up on one elbow and watched László, very obviously interested in something. When he spoke, it was thoughtlessly. "How long have you been renting?"

The subject, though abhorrent to some, didn't bother him overmuch. It was just a part of his life, after all.
"Since I was 14 or 15. Thereabouts."
