The cat appeared out of thin air (smile first, naturally) perched on one of the elaborately carved banisters at the foot of the staircase.
It then proceeded to turn around several times, before settling down into an agreeable lump, fastidiously grooming its whiskers while it waited for the others to arrive.

((Just a little playing with myself (yes, I'm twelve) to set the scene, lalala...))
After a quick foray about the center of town, Mozenrath had quickly lit upon the Opera House as a central location to see and be seen.
He was not so much concerned with the second. The first, however, particularly as far as seeing those in posession of magical items or abilities he could inform himself upon, take claim of, or otherwise manipulate to his advantage...well. That was really the whole point of this little other-worldly jaunt, wasn't it?
At first he remained in the shadows, silently and carefully observing any of the others nearby. Which was how he spotted the oddly colored cat-creature when it appeared.
Out of thin air. And in a gradual progression of anatomy.
A barely discernable look of surprise formed on Mozenrath's features.
"Well, now," he remarked to Xerxes, blandly. "That looks...interesting."

The cat noticed Mozenrath noticing the cat almost right away. It paused in its grooming activities, grinning more widely to itself with a twinkle in its eye.
"Oh, goodie. Almost exactly the sort of diversion I was looking for."

Mozenrath was well-aware of the importance of never underestimating the powerful magic that could be posessed by the most mundane-looking forms. His entire kingdom had been almost destroyed by a talking book once, after all.
Nonetheless, he found himself not asessing the brightly-colored feline at a particularly high threat level. He used his magic to teleport over to its side. He leaned against the banister, pretending disinterest as he examined his manicure.
"Nice day for a jaunt, wouldn't you agree?" he said in a casually indifferent tone, not looking at the cat as he spoke.

The cat chortled as it listened to the young man speak. It was rather reminded of the Queen back in Wonderland.
Oh, it could already begin to see the fun potential to be had with this one, to be sure.
"Oh yes, indeed," the cat replied sweetly. "Why, two of my companions are on one right now! They should be along quite shortly."

(Playing with yourself... *snicker* Oh my. Introductory post and then I'll let Kim and/or anyone else who's interesting get a reply or two in next. Talking book, indeed...)
Reinforce made her entrance a few minutes latter, 5'4 frame striding quickly into the chamber along one of the hallways adjoining the chamber. Her white hair and blue trenchcoat trailed after her, faintly back lit by the bobbing sphere of light that was her seeker drone. Said construct sent an excited hum into her thoughts, pointing out the auras of latent magic coming from Xerxe's, the Cheshire Cat, and, not least, Mozenrath.
Well, Mozenrath's gauntlet at any rate.
Blatant interest lit up Reinforce's expression at this input, crimson gaze quickly shifting to the glove and up again. An A Class Device in the possesion of an aparent magic user, complete with something akin to a familar? Whatever... annoying traits the cat might have, it certainly hadn't lied about this. She altered course to close with the trio, book in hand, drone bobbing behind her and continuing it's happy feed of data.

"And here one of them is now," the cat exclaimed upon Reinforce's approach. "What purr-fect timing."
It was, indeed, purring in anticipation of the encounter it believed sure to follow. Never be it said the cat did not go into situations with high expectations on occasion.
"I see you had no trouble finding me. But wherever has the other one gone, hmm?"

Xerxes, floating relatively quietly behind Mozenrath the entire time, peered over his shoulder now as another person approached. The cat had been strange enough- no, the cat was still more interesting. Xerxes made a face at the approaching girl then darted around Mozenrath's back to wrinkle his face at the cat.
"Strange magic," he spat, almost accusatory, low enough that it was probably intended for Mozenrath's ears alone.

Kim finally arrived, just in time to hear the Cheshire Cat's query.
"I'm here," she said from a distance away, giving a meek wave.
She'd stayed a bit back, still overwhelmed by Reinforce's appearance and what she'd said.
And now, there seemed to be even more strange persons. A man in odd robes and...an eel?

((Oh boy, now this could get interesting. Heh. If you like.))
Mozenrath ran an absent hand across the eel's slimy back, stroking it.
"Strange magic indeed," he spoke lowly. "Which is exactly why we're here, if you recall. So keep your eyes on the prize...and your words a little more carefully guarded, hmm?"
He himself cast a long look over the two women that had just arrived. The second one he dismissed almost instantly as being of no real import. The first, however, proved to capture far more interest. Her strange appearance, as well as the orb of almost pure magic she kept floating by her side, betrayed as some being of great magical ability.
Mozenrath smiled coldly.
"Hello, ladies. How do you do?"

(As I said before, feel free to enter...)
The Seeker Drone faintfully recorded and transmitted Mozenwrath's words to Reinforce, causing her to frown mildly and offer a measuring glare to the Cheshire Cat in an attempt to politely warn him off if this was a planned ambush of some kind... She focused her attention of the mage, features still and focused.
"I am... discontent at being trapped on this Dimensional-Plane and require magical asistance to go where I must," she began bluntly, red eyes locked on the pale mage's, "Judging by the aparent Familar and the Class A Device in your possesion, you would have the skill and power to assist me. Judging by your words, you would be open to an exchange of service's and resources for such asistance. Am I correct in thinking that?"
Her last assertion rang quietly through the foyer, laden with serious intent. The Book of Darkness was held at her side and feeding power to the Seeker.

The sight of the rather unusual congregation at the foot of the stairs caused her to pause briefly in her descent. She gave a small smile before continuing towards them.
"Such an interesting little group," she greeted, casting her eyes over them. "For the most part," she added, as her gaze lit upon the girl who had witnessed her distress earlier. She allowed her nose to wrinkle slightly in distaste before continuing. "And, ah, such interesting toys! Oh, hello, Fate."

Kim rolled her eyes at the red head, and the pointedly ignore her as she went to lean against one of the nearby pillars. She couldn't join in on the conversation at hand, but it was still fascinating and nobody seemed to care that she was listening.

"Now, now," the cat chided the newcomer lightly, tail flicking. "There's no need to be so rude. Or dismissive, for that matter."
It puntuated this remark by pulling its favorite trick of vanishing to just a grinning mouth and pair of eyes.
"Don't you know that things are often not what they appear to be?"
