"I didn't have a chance to wrap anything, I'm afraid-"

"You didn't have to get anything-"

"I wanted to," Herbert retorted, tapping Aziraphale's upturned nose.

He smiled, secretly pleased that he'd gotten something.
"I've just finished wrapping what I bought."

"It will be Christmas in only two hours," said Herbert, whose sleep schedule had become hopelessly muddled and who was now as likely to rise at one in the morning as he was to not sleep until four in the afternoon. "I want to give it to you now."

"All right," he said with a smile. "I've got yours here-"

Herbert gestured for Aziraphale to wait and dashed upstairs.

He set the few parcels for Herbert out on the table while he waited.

There was a rap on the window behind Aziraphale. Herbert was clinging to the wall outside with one hand, upside down, his long hair hanging down from his head and swaying in the breeze. His other arm was clenched across his chest and holding something.

He opened the window, tutting disapprovingly.
"Is that really necessary? I do think that the stairs should suffice."

"Wanted to suprise you," Herbert said petulantly as he crawled through the open window and across the wall, like a spider. "And things stick to me when I do it like this."

He watched him for a moment before he decided that watching someone crawl across the wall like that was very unnerving indeed, and looked away with a sigh.
"Well, I certainly wasn't expecting it," he said. "Do come down from there-"

Herbert dropped from the ceiling in front of him and held out a large tweedy bundle. He was absolutely beaming.

He took the bundle and unfolded it, revealing a well made, expensive looking coat, with a pen and framed drawing tucked inside. He placed them aside to examine the coat- warm and tweed and so very him- it was perfect, if a little expensive than he'd needed. On the table was a lovely fountain pen- heavy and edged with gold, and a small framed painting of the two of them- done inexpertly by Herbert's own hand. It was clear that the dear was not much of an artist, but it was done with painstaking care, and Aziraphale, of course, loved it.
"Thank you- these are wonderful," he said, beaming, and kissed Herbert.

"Will you wear it? I thought you might like it better than that old thing with the patched elbows-"
