Full Name: Loki Laufeyarson
Fandom: Norse Mythology, emphasis on Michael Harrison's Doom of the Gods and the Lokasenna. Please ignore Snorri, ladies and gentlemen.
Age: Hoo boy, we can't have that known, can we?
Height: 5'10'' in this avatar. But is a shapeshifter.
Weight: ?
Build: Slender. Male, but not overtly masculine
Hair: Red
Eyes: Green
Nationality: Jotun. ;p
Job: Odin's blood-brother, trickster deity, lightning to Thor's thunder
Personality: Wily and wry and hard to shake up - except after dignity has been bruised and he is very dangerously smouldering - Loki is the archetype of the trickster. He thrives in chaos and ambiguity and it touches on every aspect of his being. He is always up for a game, but does not realize that others take his games more seriously (or rather, he does realize it, but quite purposely thinks you should lighten up a little). He is genuinely tender, but in an off-hand, incorrigible kind of way. Loki does not live in a world of black and white, and all things, morality included, are relative. Just look at the many times he's cross-dressed! Lastly, he is also a shape-shifter, and so you cannot ever be certain that you're not talking to Loki when he does this.
Fire is playful and does not guard itself, but out of hand, it can be very destructive. Keep this in mind at all times.
Pray to Loki and you are unleashing a hurricane. You'll get what you ask for, but you will realize too late that it's probably not good for you - or even what you actually wanted.
Life Story (as much as you want us to know):
Mythologically, Loki is the child of Jotuns, though since he goes by his mother's name, he's probably illegitimate, and it's unsure of if his father is who he says he is. Figuratively, he is fire, born when lightning (his father) struck down a tree (his mother). There is also some curiosity as to the nature of his relationship with Odin. The story goes that the Allfather made a pact, and that they are blood-brothers. But perhaps they are more literally blood-brothers, as there are rumors that one of Odin's brothers, with whom he shaped the world, was really Loki, under one of many disguises. But talkative though Loki is, he can keep his secrets, and you certainly won't get the answer from Odin.
Loki's life has been the stuff of urban legends. Go look him up if you wish. He tricks, barters, gets his arse into loads of trouble, and has to make amends on a daily basis. Why the Aesir continue to put up with him is an interesting question. In the end, no matter what he's done to them, it has been beneficial for them in the end. He'll try to tell them that when Ragnarok starts, too, but by then, they'll have stopped listening.
As for the mortals, lovesome things that they be, Loki has this grain of wisdom to impart and will be pleased if it gets uncomfortably lodged between your teeth: there are no gods without you. And there are many, many aspects to gods. He is the enduring kind, but there are certain avatars that are made flesh only through a very strong bit of energy and belief. And when you create a fetch, you have to be careful what you do with it. (Loki takes a lot of interest in giving advice - especially on being careful - and some might see this as ironic.) And lastly, it's not his fault if you pervert him into something new, he insists. Really. For once, it's really not his fault. ;p
