***NEW DAY***
*There was the characteristic shimmer as Data transported down to the planet's surface. There was a moment of silence directly following it. There were no scientists. He turned to confirm the incorrect location. There was no away team. Odd. Adjusting his analysis parameters, Data observed that this was decidedly not Regulus III. He tapped his communicator.*
"Data to Enterprise." *Silence.* "Data to Enterprise. Come in Enterprise." *More silence.*
*Undaunted, Data pulled out his tricorder and began running some diagnostics to attempt to clarify the malfunction.*
((This is open for anyone.))

((Since the thread in Lorien seems to be stagnating...I'll just reboot. No pun intended.))
Nearby, someone else was just as confused as he. M'Ress, too, had been strangely unable to find anyone, despite the size of the building she'd been beamed into, against her wishes. Nor were the other members of the team here. See?! I told them those were unsafe, but did they listen? No.
Now, as she waited in one hallway off the main foyer, she pondered what to do, idly playing with her hair. The word Enterprise, however, caught her sensitive hearing, and she looked up at once. Was someone there? ...It wasn't as she had expected.
Whoever that was, his uniform was strange, and so was his tricorder, but he was undoubtedly Federation. That was a good sign. "Hello? Arrre you from the rrrelief team?" she called, striding in his direction and hoping his trigger finger wasn't itchy.

((Fine by me. And totally lol at the fact she was voiced by Majel Barrett. Damn that woman was busy.))
*Data turned to the newcomer, a mechanical twitch tilting his face slightly as he took in the new information. It only took him a few nanoseconds to retrieve the required files.*
"You are Caitian." *He stated plainly.* "And...your garment would suggest you are from the mid-twenty-third century?" *It seemed unusual, but not beyond the realm of possibility. Remembering her question, he added.*
"No. I am Lieutenant Commander Data of the Starship Enterprise." *His mouth opened, but he was silent for a moment as a thought came to him.*
"And I appear to be the only member of my away team to have reached the surface of this planet."
*He might have been worried for the others, if he had been capable of worry.*

((Hah, she sure was.))
There was something about his face that for a moment struck as...well, uncanny. Then, moments later, she realized that he was simply the most advanced android she'd ever seen--she was prone to leaping to conclusions at times, but they were often right.
"Well...yes, I am," she admitted at the matter-of-fact comments. "Again, that is corrrect."
"Of the Enterrrprrrise? Hmm." Of the away team? Ah! Perhaps he was sent down with Kirk! Though she didn't recall ever seeing him, or his shirt. "We arrre talking of the NCC-1701, yes?" she asked cautiously.

"NCC-1701 D, to be more precise." *Data politely clarified.* "And approximately 100 years later."
*Processing in silence for a moment, he continued.*
"Are you in need of a relief team here?" *He offered.*

***I don't know what happened to this thread? But if Data and M'Ress are elsewhere, that is fine. If they want to play, that is fine as well. But I'm making it a new day. And Spock just beamed in.***
*Spock began to take readings with his tricorder. He discovered that many of the minerals present were in common use in the 19th c. This fit with the tricorder's architectual history database, and Spock's limited knowledge of the era.*
"Fascinating."

Time moved strangely here.
Kirk had thought, at first. that it was merely the effects of Lorien on his human physiology--or as was probably more logical, his perception. Elves were marvelous creatures--if currently going through a rough patch--and he could imagine a much weaker man becoming drawn into their world without having any choice in the matter. He had, of course, but at the same time he found himself meeting then losing people, suddenly elsewhere, suddenly encountering some younger, alternative self, only to realize no, he was in Lorien again, and M'Ress had beamed down with a search party who was no where to be found.
It was time to figure out what the hell was going on. He was tired of trying to piece things together when his mind kept telling him this should all seem normal.
His communicator did not work here. Nor had he been carrying a tricorder--he never did. But he was now almost certain that the nexus of all this suspicious activity was the Opera House. It wasn't Lorien at all. Despite not being the center of Paris as far as his recollection of his world went, the building was certainly the center of this one. Of this world. His mind shied away from the edges but even that was a clue. The glittering monstrosity somehow drew everything to it. So here he was again, in the hopes he'd see something new.
Which he did.
He recognized the man right away, not just as a Vulcan but as the Vulcan. Spock. He was fairly certain he'd already found Spock, in Lorien, but now his mind was doing that thing again where he couldn't trust it. However here, in front of him, was a younger, smoother, somehow much more uptight Spock that nonetheless Kirk would know anywhere. He couldn't hide the surge of happiness at seeing him, even knowing this man would not, in all likelihood, have any idea who he was. He'd try not to scare him, he resolved. Tone it down. Spock--his Spock--tolerated his effusiveness with what Kirk had come to believe was some form of exasperated fondness wrapped in a purposely faulty show of indifference. There was no reason to believe the man in front of him would be quite so... logical.
"Excuse me," he said, softly but pitched to carry across the short distance between them. Kirk had no desire to sneak up on a Starfleet officer unawares, even if he himself happened to be wearing his uniform.

*This was not the location to which Mr. Scott had set the transport coordinates. Observations indicated the location most resembled conditions in Europe on Earth in the 19th c. As this was impossible, Spock considered alternate solutions.
The human seemed familiar. Spock didn't recognize him from the Enterprise, but the human was wearing Starfleet command colors.
Curious.*

It was amazing. Uncanny. Kirk was not given to examining his feelings and reactions closely, but when confronted with the bizarre reality of a younger version of his closest friend he did have the sense to check the immediate warmth, affection, and weird protectiveness he felt before it leapt out and scared the Vulcan away. He was acutely aware of the bridges he'd built with Spock and that they did not lead here. And that it was entirely possible that this Spock didn't even know who he was--yet. Kirk hadn't known Spock then, and Spock was likely serving under Captain Pike.
All this was, of course, subsumed under the sheer wonder of the occurrence. Kirk could almost hear Spock murmur "fascinating" in his ear.
"My apologies," he said, raising a hand and approaching casually. "I'm going to tell you some things it may be hard for you to believe but I think that, logically, you'll agree there is no other explanation. You're in Paris, France, in the late 19th century--which you already know. You also know I'm a Starfleet captain, or at least I'm dressed like one. My name is James T. Kirk, and while I'm from the future, it's about ten years beyond the future you're from."

*Spock was surprised at what he can only describe as this future Kirk's . . . gentleness, but of course this surprise did not alter Spock's expression.
"Not so difficult to believe, Captain. While in other circumstances logic might dictate a less . . . fantastic explanation, having had experience of a future self has proven theories of time travel and alternate universe."
*Spock amused himself by wondering just how many future figures would crowd into the past, all due to dubious connections with one Jim Kirk. Sometimes he did let his appreciation for irony filter through his expression.*
"Since you seemed possessed of more knowledge than I, can you explain why we are here?"

Good old--young--Spock. Eminently logical, no surprise, no... Well, Kirk couldn't exactly hide his. His eyes widened in surprise and then narrowed in speculation and his head canted slightly to the side.
"You've met your future self," he repeated uselessly. "And you know... me." He'd called him "Captain," so he at least knew of him, and Kirk was fairly certain that this was not through hearsay. He bit back the absurd urge to say "fascinating" and shook his head, as if to apologize for stating the obvious. "That's interesting, Mr. Spock, and may be valuable information to have. Since I have very little. I was beamed here--by accident. As I assume you were. In fact, Mr. Spock, though I have very little concrete information, I suspect that something is causing similar transporter malfunctions to occur in different times, but which all lead... here."
It felt good, to be getting down to business, though naturally he had a million questions for the younger man. But if he knew Spock--that is, if this Spock conformed to what he knew of the man--he'd get his chance. Just not yet.
