*She figured nobody would notice if she warmed up a little more. While she'd gone through recommended scales and exercises before leaving her little flat, she wanted to stretch her upper ranges again before hitting the ungodly note that her audition piece required. She went into a corner where she hoped the acoustics wouldn't carry her voice too far, and began running scales.* ((Her voice sounds like this lady's, btw. I'll post her audition piece whenever she's called upon to perform it.)) ((Coburn is absolutely amazing! She totally blows Anna Netrebko out of the water.))

When Castro had finished his performance, Maleo was left wondering if the man ever decided to use his skills at acting on the stage, rather than trying to impress a handful of people he'd already tried to keep under his thumb. Nonetheless, Maleo squared his shoulders and bowed to the tenor when he was done, politely clapping out of what little respect he had for the man. As everyone else might have their own things to say, Maleo would let his own trial stand for itself and took his leave, deciding it would be better if he took his writing to his own little room.

Pavi clapped unenthusiastically before turning back to his own reflection.

Slightly intimidated by the fact that nobody had deigned to notic eher, but still determined, Kitty clapped appreciatively.

*It was then that Ophelia decided there had been too many men in a row and walked confidently to the stage, handing Reyer her sheet music and giving him a smile. She took center stage with confidence, but not cockiness or theatrics. That she always saved for a performance.* *The music started up and she started to sing... but it wasn't just singing. She was performing. Anyone who could ignore the fact that nobody burst into song in real life watching would have been convinced she was indeed singing to her lover, who would love her and take her away, and anyone who knew the background of the song would have felt their heart breaking. She was heartbreakingly, beautifully mad, and her brightly timbred voice was a perfect fit for Lucia... as well as Marguerite. It was simply a fact.* *She gave her soul upon the stage, but once she gave her final, clear, beautiful note and the music stopped, she bowed gracefully, in full posession of her faculties, and slowly collected her music and left the stage.* ((Rachel and I have decided that Coburn would indeed be perfect for Marguerite... and yes. Ophelia is rillygood. ))

*Well, since Ophelia had gone on, she felt it was time for her to go as well. Judging by Ophelia's performance, it would be all sorts of crime if she didn't get the role of Marguerite. The girl was perfect. As Sarah got up to sing, she had one thought, really: * Dear god, I hope Vivaldi doesn't kill me.*And moved into a brilliant rendition of Agitata da due venti.*

*Certainly, Sorelli was here, as she had been for Turandot. Not in a singing capacity, of course--she was here for the ballet auditions.
As per usual, she waiting while the singers when on first, enjoying the performances. This year sounded as though it was going to be fantastic, if the turnout was anything to go by*

(( Screw the plotline, I have a contralto.)) *Irene eventually took time off from her busy job of being a tragic heroine appeared, amid a few whispers by her fellow singers- she'd been increasingly reclusive over the past few months, turning up for her job and then vanishing again.*

Politely waiting her turn, Kitty eventually stepped forward--she wasn't sure at all, and nobody seemed to be considering her at all, but blast it if she was goign to give up. By some standards dressed for the part, she would give a rendition of "Sola, perduta, abbandonata". (( au.youtube.com/watch?v=xPWDvppZE0Q&feature=related))

(( Anke and I have a few things in common so I'll be using her.)) *Rachel was sitting in the back debating on whether or not to audition. Of course, as a mezzo, she wasn't after the part of Marguerite. Even if she were, there was no way she'd beat out these coloraturas. She herself was one but that one soprano scared her half to death with her brilliant singing. Recently, all of her auditions had been busts and she didn't know if she was up for another heartbreak. She looked down at her music then at the stage. She then realized: if she didn't have the balls to handle rejections, why did she work so hard in the first place?* Screw it*Rach walked up to the accompanist, gave him her music then walked on stage. Taking a deep breath, she nodded to the accompanist. Mozart's brilliant music washed over her and she immediately went into character. It was no longer Rachel on that stage but Dorabella, lamenting the fact that her love has been sent off to war (or so she thinks) in the recitative "Ah Scostati!" and the aria "Smanie Implacabili" from Mozart's Cosi Fan Tutte. They were breathless, angry, wild and desperate all at the same time. Her dark yet lyric timbre made for a dramatic yet youthful and agile Dorabella while showing how much potential she had for singing both Siebel and Marthe. The final notes were played on the piano but it took her a few moment to get out of character and bow. As always, she walked off the stage feeling as if she had bombed it all.*

*One fantastic performance after another. With each new heavenly voice, the expressions of the managers become even more and more ecstatic. This year's opera was not only going to be their best, they were sure, it was going to break records with this talent performing it! And to think, all of these people had been hiding somewhere in Paris.*

At the sight of the two men who looked like they ran the place, Pavi hurried over to them. Behind the mask, his face was furiously animated, but the features of the unfortunate former owner refused to move, as always.

"What is the meaning of this, eh?" he demanded, in an outpouring of Italianate diva fury to rival La Carlotta herself. "The Pavi has been waiting for almost thirty minutes now! Don't you know who I am?"

After El Castro sang, Erik sat back in his chair, not having realized he was on the edge of it.
He'd been good. When had this happened? Oh, he was no Christian, of course. Hardly. But there had been something undeniable about the man's presence, something disturbingly raw in his inflection that Erik had not noticed before. He could not remember the last time the man had acted and yet, Erik believed him.
Damn the man. He was still a baby-faced, petulant, horrid little brat and Erik hated him. Possibly even more, now.
"What a commonplace little talent," he muttered, in case anyone was in doubt.
He didn't much care about the sopranos. They weren't Christine, though none of them made him plug up his ears. He was too distracted digging a hole through doodle!Castro's middle.
