((Aaaaand enter Johanna stage left.))
*There came the sound of slippered feet pattering down the hallway at breakneck speed, and soon there was a small blonde thing grabbing the doorway to stop herself from wiping out on the stone floor.*
"Maurice!" *She cried out, stepping in. She was in her nightgown, out of breath, and her hair was down about her shoulders as if she'd just come from bed.* "J'ai apporte les cartes si..."
*She blinked at Robbie.*
"Oh, hello then."

*Robbie nodded, but said nothing, eyeing her with some suspicion. His sisters aside (and even then, that was generally and not particularily,) girls were rather useless and made trouble.*

*Then she was distracted by Maurice, who was motioning her over to play cards, babbling away in a string of half-French, half-English. Johanna grinned and scrambled over, tucking her feet under herself and babbling back in the same strange mixture of language (which they liked to call Franglais). Then the cards were dealt and they quieted down--Go Fish was very serious business.*

*Robbie merely ignored them, putting the few things which were now his in order upon the shelf before he lay on his bed and stared at the ceiling.*

*Then of course Alain poked his head in and asked if he could join the game. This was met with assent and they scooted to make room for him on the small bed. The cards were redealt and they chattered brightly, expressing delight or disappointment depending on their turns in the game. Johanna was soon winning.*

*Robbie folded his hands and wondered what had ever happened to his da'.*
Duh he became a pirate.

"Would you like to play?" *Johanna called to him, once the round was over (she had won).* "Three is such an awkward number for Go Fish."

*His eyes slid over to the group of children, then down to the floor, then back to the ceiling.*
"Dunno how, miss," *he said. The girl's colouring and clothes bespoke the fact that she was no doubt a young miss of the house, and the other boy her brother.*

"Well it's quite easy; we could teach you." *She implored.*

*She frowned, put out, and turned back to Alain and Maurice, talking away in Franglais. Then, of course, the governess was in the doorway, frowning.*
"I think it's time for you to go to bed, Johanna, Alain." *Jo pulled a face but stood to follow.* "Oh, alright. Alors, bonsoir, Maurice!" *She said, as both of the twins exited the room. Maurice called a farewell back and reshuffled the deck for some more solitaire.*
"They aren't so bad, far as Highborn kids go." *Maurice observed, not expecting a response.*

"Couldn't 'ave picked a better family to be employed by. Madame does a good job with them and the house--from what we 'ear she isn't from such a fine place 'erself. What's it you been 'ired for, then?"

"Stables," *he said shortly with a shrug. It wasn't as if he knew anything about horses, but he supposed he'd learn, and quickly.*
