Bonnie-Marie shrugged. "Yeah, you probably should." She paused a moment, looked at the babies, then stood. "I'll just go now. The storm's not that bad."
A fork of lightning suddenly split the sky outside and illuminated the room, but she didn't seem to notice.

Lolcat bristled. He had no quarrel with the girl, except for how she seemed to think there was something wrong with the kitten in the basket. He gazed imploringly at Brandi.
"KITTEN CAN HAS MAH CHEEZBURGER," he offered helpfully.

*Brandi sighed maternally.*
"Don't be silly, there's plenty of room. Let me see if I can't get Kris to help you out."
*She thought really hard, wondering if she might have some sort of sueathor!bat signal or something. She smiled at Bonnie-Marie.*

Bonnie-Marie shook her head. She really didn't feel like spending anymore time with those babies, but she also didn't think that was exactly the sort of thing she should say to Brandi while she was so happy about them.
"I enjoy walking in the rain, really. Really." She hoped her tone made it clear enough that she really didn't want to stay.

*Even Brandi could get that message. She nodded, turning and bowing her head to the woman.*
"Of course. I didn't mean to..."
*She sighed.*
"Thank you again, for all that you have done."

Never having been good in situations like this even before she lost all of her manners, Bonnie-Marie nodded awkwardly and backed toward the door.
"I'm glad I could help," she said, almost honestly. "I'll...see you around, I suppose." She didn't suppose any such of a thing, but it seemed an appropriate sentiment considering she'd just borne four children for the woman. "Well, good night."
And with a last fleeting glance at the baskets on the table, she ducked out into the stormy night.

*Brandi sighed, hoping it would be better that way. Collecting the baskets, she nodded to Lolcat.*
"Well...that was certainly...unexpected."
*There was a little sadness in her voice as she started up to the nursery.*

Lolcat hopped off the table and followed after.
"I CAN HAS KITTEN?" he implored again.
Kris was tripping down the stairs towards them, and her eyes widened as she saw the baskets in Brandi's arms.
"What'd I miss?"

"Babies." *Brandi answered simply.*
"More of them anyways. A lot more."
*She handed one basket to Kris.*
"Looks like 3 boys and a girl. Cat. Something. But she's cute."
*She tried to keep positive, but she was disheartened to have to tell Lolcat.*
"None of them belong to us. I can't promise her to you, but I'm sure she'd like a friend like you."

Lolcat watched the one designated "Kris" coo over the kitten and decided these humans were sufficient. But he was sad about the news.
"DISAPPOINTMENT. I HAS IT."
But he could still be its friend, and he resolved to be a good one and bring it all his mice.

*Brandi understood. Now that the end was in sight, she was elated, but...seeing them everyday, watching them grow and learn...she felt she might miss them after all. That was strange. She shook her head, bending to scratch Lolcat behind his ears.*
"I know the feeling."
*She straightened and continued up to the nursery.*
