*Dr. Crane had been told that Ms. Lane had been screaming for him, warning that the Joker was going to blow up the city. This may not have been true, but it was always wise to check. He went down, after hiding a scalpal in his pocket.*

*Lois met Crane with a sort of subdued attitude.*
"Do you want to know the truth?" *she said, her voice tired.*

"Well, I often prefer an interesting lie, but the truth will suffice. What is it?"

"Everything was an act," *she said, laughing at herself.* "Going to your office, the interview, getting stuck in here was all part of my plan to expose you. I was going to come in, get first hand accounts then write an exposee."
"But I'm not interested in that anymore. And you need to let me go. Now."

"You're a very good reporter, Ms. Lane, but a rather stupid woman. Just why should I let you go?"

"Because this city is in danger and if you don't let me go, whatever the Joker's planning will happen. He broke in here for a reason and it wasn't because he wanted help from you."

"You're bluffing. And even if you're not..."
*He smiled*
"I have ways of making you talk without freeing you."

"This, Miss Lane, is commonly known as truth serum."
*He took a step forward*
"You can make this easy or hard. You're not going to escape, and I have no qualms with hurting you."

*She carefully gripped the handle.*
"Neither do I," *she said and lunged at Crane, knife in hand.*

*While not primarily a physical criminal, Crane was faster than the reporter. He grabbed the arm holding the knife and slammed it repeatedly against the desk*

*Lois wasn't able to hold on the knife but she elbowed him across then threw him back by kicking him in the stomach. This bought her enough time to get out of her cell but she had no idea which way to go. She looked frantically about her but only saw a small window. Guards began shooting at her and she knew she had no other choice. She ran over forced the window open then stepped out onto the small ledge. Lois looked down. She was maybe five stories up with no other way but down. Despite herself, she hesitated...*
