In the absence of the inn's owner, Yuna had taken it upon herself to help out around the place. Gil, even if it was accepted, did not last forever, and she had been trying very hard to find a way to support herself during her stay here. She figured that keeping the place that sheltered her up and running would be a good way of doing so. She only hoped that the owner wouldn't mind that one of the customers had decided to lend a hand.
She could almost hear Rikku's voice, joking that Yuna took charge without even realizing what she was doing. Thinking of her friend, though, made her homesick, and as hard as it was Yuna tried not to think of Spira too much--she wanted to go back, to see if everyone was all right, but she also had to take care of herself while she was doing so.
She came out with a smile for the new arrival.
"Hello. Are you looking for a room? We have plenty available."

"I am, but I'm also looking for someone. I'm hoping you can help me...?"
As she spoke, Tasha set her bag down and pulled out of her pocket an old photograph of a dark-haired, dark-eyed woman wearing glasses.
"Have you seen her? She's my mother--I've been trying to find her for years, and I traced her here to this city and inn."

"Oh, well--"
But at the mention of the woman's sad story, Yuna's entire manner changed.
"Oh. I haven't seen her myself, but if she's stayed here then maybe some of the longer-lasting tenants might have. I could ask them for you...?"

Tasha let out the breath she hadn't even known she'd been holding. Of course, it wasn't going to be as simple as strolling in the door and finding her sitting there reading a book. Still, it was hard to think that at any corner she turned, she would find her.
"I'd really appreciate it if you could do that."

Yuna nodded, already determined to help in any way that she could.
"All right. Why don't you have a seat? I'll be back as fast as possible."
Waiting first to make sure that Tasha was comfortable, Yuna hurried upstairs with the photograph.

Tasha felt a small wrenching in her gut as Yuna left with the photo--it was the oldest one of her mother but still representative of her. She hadn't been able to find anything else from previous years, and unfortunately had no one to ask why. She knew now, of course, but the first time she'd figured that out had been frustrating.
With a sigh, she sat down on one of the lobby couches, setting her back by her feet. She didn't want to let that out of her sight, either--there was more than just clothes and toiletries in there.

Yuna was gone longer than she'd planned on being. Half the current renters weren't home, and of those that were there to be questioned, only some of them would talk to her. Still, she managed to find a person that recognized the woman in the photograph. Thanking the resident a bit profusely, Yuna hurried back downstairs and returned the photo to a somewhat worried-looking Tasha.
"One person remembers. She says your mother hasn't lived here in years, though, and left with a man."

Yuna hadn't come back in so long that Tasha had started wondering if she should go upstairs and look for her when the girl finally returned. At what Yuna had to say, Tasha's heart skipped a beat.
"Did she say what the man looked like it?"
Could it have been...? It was the right period of time, she was sure of it.

The woman's expression change was so sudden that it took her aback.
"Um...not exactly? She said he had dark hair."

Tasha sighed, easing up a bit.
"All right, thanks. It was worth a shot."
She grabbed her bag, hefting it a bit before slinging the strap over her shoulder.
"So...where's that room?"

"Oh!" Yuna cried, clapping a hand over mouth.
"I'm so sorry, I forgot. Right this way." She said, leading the way.

Tasha smiled.
"Don't worry about it. We had more pressing matters to discuss, after all."

"Of course. I just lose track of things, sometimes."
She stopped by one of the doors upstairs.
"Here's your room. If you need anything, I'm in the one down the hall on the left."

"You live in your own inn?"
Not that that was a strange thing--plenty of people lived on or near their place of business.

"Oh. Yes. Well, it's not mine, exactly, I'm just keeping it running while the owner's away. I'm an employee."
Okay, technically she hadn't been hired by anybody, but she wasn't taking pay for it, so it balanced out...right? Her cheeks reddening, she handed Tasha the room key.
"Here you go."
