With a strength born of desperation, Erik grasped Julian and attempted to aid him into the bed.
And then he heard Megan.
And wasn't sure what to do about it. Or how she'd gotten here so quickly. For all he knew, he'd drifted in and out of consciousness long enough at Manderley for her to have gone around the world and back.
"Er... in here?" he called. Or tried to; his voice was raspy and barely carried to the door.

As she entered, she saw Julian holding Erik, and somehow now it just made her glad to see someone holding him like that, even if it was...
"Hello, Julian," she said softly.

*Julian instinctively nuzzled towards Erik, the pain less when he was near.*
"It hurts..." *He murmured against the pillow he'd found, laying on his belly. He didn't seem to be aware of anything else.*

Erik, keeping himself together through sheer willpower, patted Julian absently. At least the bleeding had stopped.
He was starting to hurt rather a lot, now. His skin itched.
"Erik wanted to go home," he said a bit defensively.

"Home..."
*Julian frowned, his face buried in the pillow, his blood smearing on the rest of the linens.*

Megan realized that she was interrupting.
"I'll, um, wait out here..."
She stepped out of the room.

Erik wasn't sure what she was waiting for. Or what she was doing there. Or what to do about Julian. He glanced at the wounds. They already looked a little older than they should. Foolish boy, he thought affectionately. They both needed to sleep. He pitched his voice to carry, managing it this time. "D'you have any morphine?" he asked. (( ))

"No," she called back.

That would be the first thing he'd have to take care of, Erik decided.
"You're home, Julian," he murmured. "With Erik."
With a groan, he fell back onto the pillow, exhausted.
"Who cannot take care of you."

*Julian rested snuggled against Erik. After several deep breaths, he whispered softly.*
"I...it will be...fine. I just...need...time."
*He drifted in and out of coherent thought.*

Well. That was good. Erik thought time would not be a great help to him. The pain might lessen, but he'd still be... like this. Useless.
He just needed heavy drugs, he thought.
Erik lay awake for some time, until concentrating on Julian's breathing lulled him into a restless slumber.

*After several hours, Julian awoke with a start.*
"Mother!" *He gasped, his eyes wild for a moment.*

Erik came awake suddenly, without the haze of painkillers that usually enveloped him.
"Julian?" he answered. He felt stiff, and tired, and itchy.

*Julian calmed, realizing where he was, that Erik was here. And in pain.*
"I'm sorry." *He whispered soothingly.* "I didn't realize that it would...be quite so bad."
*He pushed himself up, to look over Erik.*
"You hurt. What can I do to provide for you?"

"I walked through a fire," Erik said bitterly. "The skin is healing, but it pains me." He knew, even now, that the pain was not completely due to his injuries anymore. The itching under his skin, in his blood...
"There is not much to be done but ease the pain. There should be some morphine. In Erik's room."
