*Death manifested slowly from the shadows. He felt a bit awkward, intruding into Erik's home, but he had been invited after all. And it wasn't as if he could just knock on the door, you know? He looked around cautiously, hoping he wasn't interrupting anything. And really, more than anything, he was just hoping that Erik would be happy to see him.*

*Erik was learning that he could sense Death nearby. He had initially written off the slight tingling sensation--akin to the endorphin rush of making his own kill--to his understandable eagerness to make a good impression. But it had come again, and he felt it now. He turned to see Death standing quietly, shadowed from all eyes but those particularly used to the darkness.
He bowed his head briefly in greeting.*
"Greetings."

*Death turned sharply to him, but with a genial smile and slight bow of his head.*
"And greetings to you as well, sir. Please forgive me for entering without announcing myself."
*He looked up to Erik, trying to maintain some formality and not to submit to his excitement.*
"I promised to return when things had been rectified with Vianne. And now I have."

*Erik waved a hand to negate Death's apology, but was deterred from saying anything by what happened next. He dropped his hand and took an involuntary step closer.*
"You... you have? And the result?"

*Death smiled with a touch of pride.*
"She has been restored. There seem to be no ill effects."

*An uncharacteristic wave of relief washed over him.*
"That is... very good news," *he said finally.* "Erik thanks you."

*Death nodded in acceptance of Erik's appreciation.*
"It had to be done. I still feel horrible it happened in the first place. I am just glad it could be rectified."
*He smiled shyly.*
"I am happy to bring you good news for a change."

"Not as happy as Erik is to receive it. There has been very little of that, recently. She is recuperating with her husband and family, I suppose," *he mused.* "Well! Erik is not sure what celebration he and Death can share, but I would like to offer you whatever it is you'd like. Erik can be a very good host."

"She seems to be getting some much needed rest."
*Death sighed gently.*
"To be perfectly honest, that sounds wonderful. Just to sit and relax. It feels like it's been forever."

"Oh! Please sit," *Erik said, chagrined at his claims of being hospitable being refuted so quickly. He motioned at the chairs in the parlor.* "May Erik get you any refreshment?"

*Death smiled gratefully and took a seat with a sigh.*
"Oh no, that's really not necessary. This is wonderful. Just what I needed. I hope that I am not imposing to terribly on you."

*Erik sat gracefully in the chair opposite.*
"No, not at all. Erik's life is somewhat less complicated than it has been in the past." *Less complicated, but also less hopeful.* "He appreciates the company, in point of fact."

*Death got that. Like...really got that. He remembered the hopelessness of loneliness. He smiled gently, a slight jest in his voice, but over a generous one of offering.*
"You shouldn't encourage me like that. I'll be bothering you all the time."

*Erik hid his delight at over his new acquaintance.*
"It is no bother; Erik is almost always alone." *He grimaced.* "Well, less so at present, but..." *He gestured eloquently in the direction of the torture chamber, where he was having Megan do such repairs as she was able. He sighed.* "Little changes to mark the passage of days."

Trying doing it for a few millinia.
*Death nodded.*
"I understand. You are always welcome to call on me, even if it's not for work. I am trying to be better about getting out of the house. Apparently it makes me stagnant or something."
*He realized that Erik might be pressured by his suggestion.*
"I mean...not that you would always have to host or anything. We could just...go out, do something. You could always come on a run with me, if you want. I would appreciate your artistic eye."
