*Erik smiled almost cruelly.*
"Much is different in my world," *he said.* "There must be a point of divergence after which we do not have the same experiences. My face... was a gift."

"I see," she said, her lips drawing together into a grim line.
"No such gifts for Erika. But of course not."
*She waved the words away with a delicate hand*
"But enough of that, yes? Perhaps we could reach a certain accord."

*Erik's eyes narrowed shrewdly.*
"Of what sort? Erik is not likely to give the boy up, as you well know."

"Of course not--Erika would not give him up."
*Ah, what treacherous business, dealing with yourself.*
"Let me see him. Even if only for a short while. Let me see my dear boy."

*Erik frowned.*
"We shall see," *he said coldly, not wishing to reveal that he had "lost" the boy.* "Only if Christian wishes."

*Erika gave a humorless laugh*
"If there is one thing I can be sure of, it is that he would see me."

"Erik grows weary of your presence," *he said coldly.* "You will see Christian when--and if--Erik allows it."

"You do not dictate what Erika can or can't do. She will come and go as she pleases. And Christian is not property for your control."
*She said, drawing herself up imperiously*

"No? But this is Erik's domain--not yours."
*He chuckled.*
"Is there any point in prolonging this conversation? We each know what the other will say."

"No, no point, as you are correct. But do not forget, this IS my domain--I know every trick and trap as you would."
*She tilted her head, appraising her doppelganger for a moment*
"I shall have to find other lodgings, since my lair is no longer mine. But nonetheless, I will be seen again...when my boy can see me."
*She melted into the shadows, knowing full well that Erik could see through that trick. But old habits are the hardest to break, even in the presence of one who knows them.
She was off, somewhere...her own phantomy singing echoing through the basement...*

*Erik stared after her a moment, somewhat curious about her despite himself.*
