((I totally get what you mean. Julian thinks he's a he too.))
I remember. Some.
*Julian didn't say anything further on the subject.*
"And you were...going somewhere to change? Or did you have your mind set on other things?"

"Hmm?" Erik peered at him, then recalled his wet clothes, dripping on the expensive Persian rug. "Oh. Yes. I suppose it would not do to catch cold. But we were rather hoping for something... to eat."
It was odd, saying the words. It was odd wanting food, frankly.
"Erik hears you have been caring for Wanizame quite well."

The little creature chirred and sat on its haunches, curling its tail up around its hip and watching the men, the corners of its wide mouth still turned up.
"Apples, Julian?"

"Ah, then."
*Julian nodded and disappeared through the door only to reappear near instantly with a basket full of them.*
"I just figured that at least they would provide for a short while."

It squealed and hopped forward to gather up several of the fruits, holding them against its chest and trundling back over to Erik to hold one out to him before turning and looking for good hiding places for the rest--after eating three whole and loosing a triangular tooth on the floor.
"Pretty Julian, naked-tails keep eating Shark hide hide apples..."

*Julian shook his head slowly.*
"I am sorry, but it is in their nature. It is hard to explain why food should not be shared when they are hungry."

Erik took an apple, but did not eat it.
"Erik had to fortify his pantry quite severely against them," Erik agreed. "It seems you must either share, or keep them someplace else."

Izame thumped its tail on the floor, once, and skittered out of the house to drop its red prizes into the cold water of the lake--there were no fish to nibble them there, and the rats, it supposed, probably couldn't dive to find them. It came back grinning and sat at Erik's side again.
"Care care eat, is good. Not-wet other-skins too, not get sick, okay?" It rambled sternly.

Erik chuckled.
"Yes, yes. Erik will change."
He walked--still slow--over to Julian. He was not aware of it, but Izame's appearance had taken some weight off Erik. He was, finally, on the road to a recovery that had shed some of its self-pity.
"Thank you, Julian," he said, "for taking him in. It was as Erik would have wished. As you know. And now... would it trouble you greatly to make some tea for your mother?"

The sharkman made a sort of sneezing noise and pulled a face, not a fan of tea, itself. It hopped around the kitchen, peeking into cupboards, but spying no rats it decided to pad into another room and curled up on the floor near the chair Erik had vacated earlier.

*Julian's eyes narrowed only for a moment, but he leaned to kiss Erik tenderly on the forehead.*
"Of course not. I shall bring it to your room, when it is ready."
*He glanced after the sharkman.*
"He is right, you should change."
*Julian tried not to be too distracted by thoughts of Erik in various states of undress as he started to prepare the tea.*

Erik smiled at the cool touch of Julian's lips on his forehead.
"I shall," he said. "I feel strangely in need of sustenance," he said curiously. He paused, another thought crossing his mind. "Do you resent the presence of the being who wishes Erik to name it?"

*Julian seemed thrown for a moment. Why should it be of concern. He shook his head slowly.*
"Of course not. He is welcome to be at your side if it pleases you."
*He smiled slightly, resetting to the task.*

Ah. Perhaps it was because he was not engaging in sexual intercourse with Izame that made him acceptable. Like Pina. Curious.
"Very well. Erik will change!"
With that pronouncement, he ambled somewhat stiffly down the hall and to his room, where his wardrobe and rather more time than he wanted to take with it eventually produced a smartly-dressed, very ugly man.

((That would definitely be part of it, yes.))
*Julian boiled the water and took out the set, dusting away the evidence of its disuse. Then he steeped the tea and set everything on to a tray and started down to Erik's room.*
