A gleam was in his living eye, and Bryan slunk up beside the little man, having already undone a few buttons in the heat of the room.
"I dress down," he replied, putting his hands on Mortimer's shoulders. "Maybe you should take this off," he said, tugging on the pretty coat. "This could be too much for you down here, friend. Wouldn't wanna get it dirty bein' so close to this big thing anyway," he added.

"Would it really get dirty just from being so close?" he was genuinely concerned, the green coat was his favorite article of clothing, after all.
The little man shrugged out of his jacket and took it from Bryan to find a nail or a peg to hang it on, closer to the stair, before coming back and rolling up his shirt sleeves, it was getting terribly hot.
"What I mean was, what happens to a person if they get too hot? Will they die?"

"Nah, not down here. I'm here all the time, and I ain't dead yet." Or again, anway...
Of course, he wasn't like the other men... he hadn't heard of any of them dying... from heat, anyway. Removing his own vest, Bryan had stripped himself down to his undershirt, which revealed the metal pieces carefully layered over his "batteries" in his arms, made by Jirahasuke to protect his limbs from damage. He put his shirt and vest with Mortimer's coat on a peghook outside the door, then returned.
"You feelin' too warm?" he asked, leaning near his new acquaintance again.

"No, I'm okay." He smiled and stepped closer, reaching a tiny hand up to touch the metal and a couple of the thicker scars on one of Bryan's arms.
"Someone built you after you died."

Blinking a moment, he raised a brow, not certain if he'd mentioned that he'd been dead once before, but his earlier hint should have made it obvious. Though, the little man wasn't afraid of him in the least.
"Yeah... I dunno who did it," he responded, looking down at the tiny hand on his arms. "I'm like this all through," he said, reaching up to remove the faceplate, revealing shiny brass underneath.

He had only known, or guessed, because of his experience with Julian rebuilding Grantaire, anyway, and Bryan had a similar sort of "feel" about him.
THe sight of the skullish face under the make made Mortimer give an excited and somewhat embarrassing trill and he blushed and choked it off. "Oh, very handsome." he reached up to touch the metal, his ever-seeking fingers finding the smooth and warm texture of it pleasing.

The trill had startled him, only because he'd never heard such a sound before, but Bryan did not recoil from the exploring hand.
Mortimer's blushing, however, was cute and caused Bryan to grin a little. "Wanna see more?" he asked unabashedly. "No one's gonna be around here for a while." The furnace was heated, and the men were given time enough to do other work in the higher levels. No one would find them; if someone did come in, well, he had shovels and access to a furnace.

"Yes" he nodded and dropped his hand, stroking one elegant finger over a thick chord of muscle on Bryan's forearm.
Sweat was starting to break out over his smooth skin--a new experience for him--and he unbuttoned his vest, hanging it on a shovel handle that was sticking out of a coal pile. His shirt was just starting to cling to his chest.

Bryan took the undershirt off over his head, exposing the rest of the metal plating over his chest, which he removed after a few quick openings of buckles. The "armor" slid off, revealing the large clockwork "heart" in his chest.
"Built from scratch, I guess," he said, tapping the glass dome.

"Ooh!" Grantaire didn't have one of those. He had to stand up on his toes and still urge Bryan to bend over so he could see inside of him.
"It's very pretty, Bryan."
The little man smiled and let the larger stand up straight again while his fingers inspected scars and metal and wire and glass.

The larger man huffed at the little touches, restraining himself from attacking Mortimer right away. He was no libertine, but neither was he an ape. He wasn't so sure of how strong Mortimer really was.
"Nobody ever called this 'pretty' before..." he admitted, though the metalwork had been called a few other things. Bryan closed his eyes and distracted himself with the sensation of the nimble little fingers again.
"I'm like this all over," he murmured, knowing that it was a fairly obvious statement, but his mind and his body were working against each other again.

That was fine for Mortimer's aims, and he took a little step back, folding his arms behind his back.
"I want to see. I've never seen anyone so strong before."
The sweat was beading on him now, rolling over his temples and slicking some of his hair to his face. His shirt clung to his lean little form, wet enough in some places that the tone of his skin could be seen through the fabric, and the phallic shark on his back could be made out.

"You're gonna ruin yer whole outfit, sweatin' like that," replied Bryan, shucking the rest of his clothing in short order, feeling a little more full of himself with the pretty little man feeding his ego a bit.
"Haven't seen anyone quite like you before. You're a pretty little thing yourself." Well, he'd seen people he'd consider "pretty" or "beautiful," but Mortimer was downright alluring in a strange way. Something about him was there, under the surface, that Bryan couldn't lay his finger on.

The sharkman grinned, showing off his terrible teeth, and stepped closer again, letting loose a series of low clicks that ratched up to a soft purr as he took in Bryan's naked form. He was...impressive to say the least.
"Thank you, Bryan." He padded around and reached up to curl his hands over the hard muscles of Bryan's back, around the plating there before finding the buckles to release that armor as well and exposing the man's delicate glass spinal column.
"Oh...beautiful..."

Bryan felt himself swallow in reaction to Mortimer's assessment, keeping himself still to let the little man see what he wanted.
"Ain't ever seen it..." he mused quietly, having bitten his lip to keep himself quiet up until that point. The fingers felt cool on his warmed skin, and the attention made him shiver. He had definitely never been referred to as beautiful, and he was surprised the compliments were affecting him so readily.
"Maybe you should take off another layer..." Or all of them... "Aren't you uncomfortable?"
