*Richard stormed through the palace, seeking Antoinette. News of the barricade had reached them, soldiers had been sent, but there was a larger issue at stake. If people were revolting so soon, more power must be levied against them.*

*Marie, as it happened, was looking for Richard. She'd been wanting to bring up some of her ideas for France with him...
There he was.*
"Richard--"
*She stopped at the look on his face*
"What has happened?"

*His face set in grim lines, he faced his queen.*
"An uprising," *he spat.* "Verminous dogs! We have yet to show this country what it might be, and already those rabble-rousing miscreants have barricaded themselves in the street. It is not the slaughter I fear, but the repercussions. We must stop the press, milady, and seek out those who might be spreading lies about us."

"What?"
*The look on her face wasn't shock, or horror...it was anger. No--fury.*
"Those...those..." She balled her hands up into fists.
"Those peasants. How dare they! And yes, yes, we must find who is doing this--who dares speak ill of us without reason!"

*It was true. They'd hardly done anything tyrannical. Yet. Richard grasped her shoulder.*
"They will not succeed. Send your swordswoman; methinks she is bright enough to infiltrate their ilk, and being comely hurts not."

*Swordswoman? Did he mean--
A brief blush crept into her cheeks as it hit her that she'd developed a vague crush on another woman. She swiftly squashed that down before Richard could notice*
"Yes...she is an excellent member of the staff, and dare I say it, the best. She's been keeping an eye on the nobles, but now I see that they are not the ones we should be wary of. I'll send for her."

*Richard nodded.*
"Cowards, the lot of them," *he sneered.* "It is the peasants we have overlooked. But fear not, my lady; our position is unassailable."

"As it well should be."
*She turned to a passing maid*
"You! Go find Monsieur Jarjayes...as soon as possible. It is an urgent matter."
*The maid curtsied and then quickly shuffled away*

((Are you guys gonna get beheaded at the end of this crazy revolution or is everyone just going to get shot, stabbed, squished, pulverized, blown up, mutilated, and/or annihilated?))

((Likewise))
*Oscar more or less dashed into the room. She had read the paper, too. She bowed low before her mistress, and when she rose she wore an agitated look.*

*Oscar's expression was all Marie needed to see*
"You've heard, as well. It is...it is simply ridiculous!" *She took a deep breath, calming herself.*
"I need your help."

*Oscar's expression was pained.*
"Your Majesty, I consider it my failure, that I did not learn of the uprising in time to quash it in its infancy," *she said.* "Anything I can do now, I will."
