"Is that unusual?"

"It is unusual for me to be pleased with mutual enjoyment."

*Johanna knew what he meant by that, but chose to ignore it*
"Sometimes I don't really understand myself...when I'm with you, I mean."

"What is there to understand? One should take things as they come."
He rested his arm around her shoulders, drawing her close to him on the couch.
"For example. Perhaps you are not satisfied merely with the position of Head of House."

"A man my age and in my position should be married."

*Johanna looked up in surprise. She contemplated his implied offer for a moment- she didn't love him (at least, not the way she'd loved Anthony), but she could learn. ANd she enjoyed being with him.*
"Do you love me?"

The older man brightened, the smirk on his face spreading into a grin.
"Excellent! We shall have to make all the necessary arrangements, of course--do you wish for a lavish ceremony, or a simple legal proclamation? And we'll have to have a pre-marital agreement, of course."

*She nodded- growing up under the care of a Judge, she knew about pre-nuptuals.*
"I don't really have many people to invite..."

"That's just as well, all that ceremony bores me anyway. Come, my dear. Back up to the world of the living with us."
He lifted and kissed her hand, tucked her arm into his and led her out of the chamber and leaving the quiet shuffing of the beast behind. There was much to do--the promised shopping expedition for Johanna, as well as a visit to his solicitors and a stop at a jewelers for an appropriate ring.
