"Marius. And you?"
*He was still feeling a bit embarrassed at the emotional outburst*

"I'm Kaylee."
*She smiled, trying to lighten the mood.*
"See, now we know each other."

*He gave her a hesitant smile*
"I guess so, Kaylee. I've never heard a name like yours before. It's rather pretty."

"Aw, thanks. Yours ain't too bad either."

"Oh...I guess it's all right." He said, a bit bashfully.
"So, what brings you here? There must be more cheerful places than this one."

"I don't know- they're not as interestin' as this one."
*She smiled.*
"I like this place- it's not usually so empty."

*He looked around the Cafe for a moment*
"There used to be a lot more to this place. Laughing and singing and...well, my friends."

((Because we all need a little more wank in our lives.))
*Enjolras hadn't been here since long before the twins were born. As Bella had them off conveniently visiting someone and he had nothing left to do that night, he sat down at the bar and raised a finger, vaguely noting the girl and boy on the other end. Thank God someone was keeping business going.*
*A tiny, wizened old bartender came out, face in a huge smile.*
"M'sieur Enjolras! Haven't seen you 'round here in ages!" *He cried happily.* "Haven't seen anyone 'round here, to be frank." *He said conspiratorially.* "Not since you n' yer friends." *The man sobered a little. He remembered what had happened, very well, in fact. He had been around thirty, and running this same bar, when it had happened.*
*Enjolras smiled half-heartedly, remembering when this place used to be full of singing and laughter and students... schoolboys who thought they could change the world.*
"The reg'ler, I presume?"
*Enjolras nodded and waited.*
"Be back right away, M'sieur Enjolras."

((Oh good lord...))
*When the bartender called the newcomer Enjolras, Marius excitedly turned in that direction. But whoever it was at the bar wasn't the man he'd expected to see. He stared confusedly in that direction for a moment before turning back to Kaylee*
"Would you pardon me for a moment? I must ask that man something."

((You knew the insanity was bound to show up.))
"Here y'are, M'sieur Enjolras, just th'way you and yer friends used to like it." *Obviously, the man was senile or insane to not notice that he had aged while Enjolras only looked about 5 or so years older than he had at least 40 years ago. Poor man, stuck in the past. Enjolras himself still would be if it weren't for Bella.
Enjolras took a healthy swig of his drink--Grantaire's favorite brandy tasted exactly as he remembered it.
Like piss.
It would be his only drink that night; that much he was sure of. He would get home and sleep before Bella and the twins got home the next day.*

*Cautiously, Marius approached the man at the bar. He had learned with his earlier experience with Eponine that this could very quickly get out of hand and strange*
"Monsieur...Enjolras?"
*He couldn't keep the hopeful note from his voice. Even if this man looked different, Marius wanted something of his friends to still exist*

*Enjolras flicked his dark, enigmatic eyes to the young man standing there. He didn't recognize him.*
"Yes?" *He raised a dark eyebrow.*
*Though he was not Marius's Enjolras, there was an undeniable air of authority and charisma that emanated from him and made it obvious he was definitely someone close.*

*Even if he didn't look the same, Marius knew--simply knew--that this was indeed Enjolras. Nobody else had that same kind of presence.
He heaved a huge sigh of relief.*
"Thank god. I'd was led to believe that everyone was dead, even Valjean, and while part of me thought it made sense another part rebelled.
I'm glad you're all right."

"Whoever you are, I was dead. I was shot on the student barricades. June 6, 1832."
*He wasn't one to mince words. He looked at the young man expectantly, not even needing to ask him to say his name. It was obvious what he wanted.*
*However, there was something familiar about the boy. That eager tone and young face could have been any of the revolutionaries, but that utter air of innocence... there was only one person, and it was impossible that this was Marius. Marius was dead.*

*He closed his eyes at the information before opening them again.*
"That's what Eponine said. While I would never call dear 'Ponine a liar, it was hard to consider...but yes, I know of the barricades. I was there."
*He paused. No, it wasn't his Enjolras (which would hurt his head if he thought of that too much) but it was STILL that man, for all the difference in appearance.*
"I'm..."
Here it comes...
"...Marius Pontmercy."
