*He frowned at it.*
"Well, yes," *he said.* "I suppose. But it's a toy!"
*He rummaged in his pockets some more, which was quite a feat considering how his suit fit. He pulled out an iPod, muttered something about Rose leaving her stuff around, and plugged it into the console. "If You Wanna Be My Lover" poured out of the speakers, and the Doctor frowned at them, and poked at the wheely thing, until it was replaced by Keane.*
"Er. The selection isn't great," *he said.*

"Is this a joke?" Meg asked slowly.

*The Doctor shook his head, suddenly tired. Not irritated; just tired.*
"No, it isn't. Maybe you should go back to your game. Pretend you didn't see me."

"Are you a ghost?" she asked suddenly. "The Opera Ghost isn't a ghost at all- Mama told me about him, and he's just a man. But are you a ghost?"

"No, he isn't a ghost, and neither am I. I'm just a traveler."

"A traveller?"

*He couldn't hide his smile.*
"Yeah. Time and space. Anywhere and everywhere."

Meg tried very hard to look stern, but I mean, come on, look at her. She's Meg. She's the curiousest damn thing you've ever seen.
"Anywhere and everywhere?"

*The Doctor knew that look. He nodded.*
"Absolutely. Not that that's very interesting, is it?"

"Can you show me?"

*The Doctor smiled again. He did that a lot, when he wasn't being all Lonely God and emo.*
"Well, maybe one trip," *he said casually.* "Why, is there someplace you'd like to go?"

She crossed her arms and made a vaguely pouty face.
"Does it matter?"

*He shrugged.*
"Not really. I've a million places to go. I just wanted to know if you had a preference."
*He started fiddling with levers on the console, pushing buttons, making beeping noises (the instruments, not actually him).*

Meg was certain this was all going to be some kind of magic trick.

*The Doctor stared intently at his controls as the TARDIS began to shake slightly around them.*
"Yes!" *he cried,* "There she goes!" *As if he hadn't done this millions of times in his nearly 900 years. The TARDIS shuddered to a halt, and to the untrained observer (inside) it might very well seem as though they hadn't moved at all.
The Doctor turned to Meg and grinned.*
"Well, Meg Giry," *he said.* "Prepare for some dancing."
