*He huffed in annoyance and began gathering up his possessions, but left the string for the kitten.*
"You're going to have to leave if you insist on that behavior."

At the sound of his voice, the kitten froze stock-still, turning round eyes and a quivering nose towards the man.
Anther flying leap, this time into the Marquis' lap. The kitten wandered insistantly from side to side without any intention of settling, its tail straight up and its ears perked. Something caught its attention and it suddenly burrowed into the crook between where the Marquis' arm was resting against the side of his body, sniffing.
A moment where the entirety of the kitten's body was quivering like a taut bowstring, then it abruptly flopped down, its face still buried in the crook of the Marquis' elbow. There was a distinct snuffling sound, and something very much like a sigh.

*He frowned, tempted to remove the small furry creature, but it wasn't doing any harm, now that it wasn't moving. And it was quite... snuggily. It was distressing.
Well, at least it wasn't disrupting his work anymore.*
"Stay there, then, if you must."

Another slight burrowing motion indicated that this was exactly what the kitteh intended to do. Waves of contentment rode the air, tipped with sleepiness. Unseen in the darkness of the Marquis' crooked elbow, the kitteh yawned.

*He sighed in irritation that was almost good natured, and scratched the tiny cat between its ears. He'd have to get rid of it later, of course, but for now it was comfortably keeping his side warm and there wasn't anything wrong with that.*

A soft rough purr started up, gently vibrating against the Marquis' side. It slowed to rumbling fits and bursts, as the kitteh drifted in and out. The scratch between its ears earned the Marquis a strengthened purr.
Soon even that puttered out, and the kitteh was warm and soft and very asleep.
