*Nightfall shrugged.*
"Daddy says it's just because I'm young, and that it will pass when I get older. Do you think so too, uncle Ramses?"

"I think if you give your mother a try, you'll find she's not so bad" he laughed "and yes relationships with parents usually get better as the child matures, not to say you aren't mature, just to say that maybe you aren't exactly on the same level of maturity as we are, do you understand?"
He was starting to get tired of having to explain these things over and over again to her, but that was his job, he was both adviser and teacher and he promised Leetah.

*She sighed and looked down at him.*
"Ok, uncle R. I understand. I'm sorry."
*Then a cheerful smile brightened up her cute little face, and her dark eyes sparkled behind her long, dark eyelashes.*
"Do you have any books to recommend me today?"

He grinned, that was better, he liked it when she acted her age.
He knew how to treat a 12 year old that acted like a 12 year old, but how would he treat a 12 year old that acted 25?
"Actually yes" he lifted her up off his lap and motioned her to follow him toward the back room WHICH IS NOT CREEPY and closed the door behind them "I have a present" he went over to where a desk sat filled with papers and picked up a book shaped package wrapped in paper.
He brought it over to her and smiled "I found this at a rare book shop in England a couple years back and I was saving it for you for when you got older" he handed her the package.
"It's Scheherazade's one thousand and one adventurous nights" he smiled "have you ever heard of it?"

Oh boy, I'm alone with Billy Zane in the back room! ;D
*Nightfall looked up at him, curiosity all over her adorable little face.*
"No, never. What kind of story is that, uncle R?"

He smiled and leaned against the desk and pulled at the collar of his shirt, even after all this time, shirts were still terribly uncomfortable.
"Well, I can't tell you everything, because it will ruin the story, do you still want to hear?"

*Nightfall looked up at him with a smile, picturing him without a shirt.*
"Sure. If you have time?"

Standing straight backed he went over to the door and looked out in to the store, her brother was now fully engrossed in that novel, or that's what Ramses guessed since he didn't see him anymore.
There was no one in the store so he turned back to Nightfall with a grin "I've got a bit" he walked over to a comfy chair over by his desk and smiled at Nightfall motioning for her to sit in the chair across from him.

*Nightfall looked at him with a broad grin and a glimpse of humor in her eyes, then she jumped across the room and landed on his lap.*
"Now you can tell me."
*She smiled and wriggled her slender body until she found a comfortable way to sit.*

"You know one day you will be far to large to sit on my lap" he laughed.
"Okay" his voice grew quiet, he was the master of story telling as he had been since he had been able to read.
"A long, long time ago, far back further than neither you or I can remember lived a king by the name of Shahryar. Every night Shahryar would marry a new virgin and by morning he would have them killed" he make a slicing noise across his throat with a smile "beheaded.
You see the king was very angry, his first wife, who's name felt so treacherous upon his tongue, would never be uttered, had betrayed him. Therefore in her betrayal he found it right to take these young virgins and have them slaughtered by morning. Three thousand died for this purpose, until the king was introduced to the viziers daughter."
Ramses puffed up his chest in respect "Scheherazade."

*Nightfall listened to uncle Ramses' stories with enormous eyes and a fascinated smile on her face. Even if she shuddered now and then, and pressed her body closer to his, as to seek his protection, she didn't want him to stop. This was far too exciting.*

"Now Scheherazade was not a normal woman for her time, she was well versed in history, science, philosophy and literature and had in her mind thousands of books she had collected over time. She was said to be wonderful in every way.
Scheherazade had a plan you see, she would enter the kings bed chambers for the night, against her fathers wishes and ask to be excused to speak to her sister who would insist on telling her a story before she went to bed. During this story the king listened intently, in awe by the story and asked her to tell another one. Scheherazade refused, saying that the sun was about to rise sadly, but she promised her next story to be even more exciting than the last!"
He grinned "She did this every night for over one thousand and one nights, during which the king had made Scheherazade his queen and she had born him three sons. The king who had been quite entertained found that he had also learned from her tales, and became a kinder more moral king until the end of his reign."
Ramses pointed at the book "This book is all of the stories she told to the king including the one I just told you."

*Nightfall smiled and looked at him with twinkling stars in her eyes.*
"And you say that this wonderful book is for me? Oh, thank you!"
*She wrapped both her arms around his neck and huggled him tightly.*

Ramses laughed as her severely long hair flew in his face, it smelled like wild jasmine Just like her mother he squeezed her and looked up at the clock "it's getting late young lady, I think it's time for you and your brother to go home don't you think?"

*She jumped off his lap and smiled as she took the book under her arm.*
"You're probably right. Thanks again for the book, uncle R."
*She skipped happily out in the store to fetch her brother, before going back home.*
