"So soon? The river must move pretty fast."
*She glanced out at the water, giving it an appraisal*
"Yes, looks like it."

*Haldir was still standing in the canoe, controlling it's movements.*
"That, my love, is because we are close to the waterfalls. We actually have to go down the waterfalls. So hold onto me, and no matter what happens: Don't let go!!!"
*The waterfalls appeared in front of them as soon as they passed the riverbend.*

"What?!" She screamed.
"Nobody told me anything about this!"

*Haldir looked down at her and smiled.*
"Of course not!"
*He replied cheerfully, with a glimpse of humor in his eyes.*
"If we had told you, you wouldn't have been here with me, would you?"

*She gripped the edges of the boat hard enough for her knuckles to go white*
"But...but it's dangerous! Isn't there another way?!"

*Haldir laughed and caressed her hair for a moment.*
"Don't you worry, my sweet. If it had been dangerous, I would never have taken you here. Don't forget that the canoe is Elven made. It is stronger than it looks, just like us. And no, this is the only way to Ehonile. Didn't Leetah tell you that the town is well hidden?"

*She was biting her lip, trying to keep calm as the current picked up speed. She refused to look behind her, even though the roar of the waterfall was starting to get loud in her ears*
"This isn't funny! We could fall out! It wouldn't matter if the boat is well-made if we fall out!"

*Haldir leaned forwards and grabbed Katya with one arm, pulling her close to him, and holding around her protectively. The luggage was fastened in the canoe by strong ropes and a fishing net.*
"Don't worry! We won't fall out!"
*He had to shouth through the roar of the waterfall. As the canoe sailed elegantly down the waterfalls, Haldir stood in the middle of the it, balancing it so it didn't overturn. All the time he held Katya protectively in his arms, making sure she didn't fall out. They landed elegantly in a quiet lake below the waterfalls, and still in the canoe. Haldir gave Katya a hug and whispered in her ear.*
"You see? I told you we won't fall out."

*She screamed all the way down, clinging to him in an almost bruising hug until they stopped moving. Once she was absolutely sure the boat had stopped, she opened her eyes and stood back, glancing around at their surroundings*
"Aaaagh...please tell me there isn't anything else like that." She said, out of breath.

*Haldir smiled. He had enjoyed the feel of her tiny body pressed to his in that hug. He silently wished there would be more waterfalls like this.... but he knew there wasn't.*
"It's no more waterfalls like this one. I promise you."
*He said with a loving smile and kissed her.*

"Good," she said, kissing him back.
"I don't think my nerves could stand it."

*Haldir smiled and started paddling again. Soon the waterfalls were far behind them. Now they were in a jungle-like forest. The trees were standing very tight, and there were bushery and lians everywhere. The fauna here was like in any other jungle area on the earth: colorful birds, huge snakes, panthers, and many others. And the river was full of fish.
On the right side of the river, almost hidden in the bushery, was a hidden city. Marble pillars overgrown with green plants, some ruins, and behind them.... houses. The main color was white, but there were also other colors. Haldir looked down at Katya and whispered.*
"Ehonile."

*She craned her neck, trying to see as much as possible even though the boat was still moving toward the city, trees in the way of her getting a full view. It looked wonderful, though, and her momentary fear from the waterfall was replaced by the excitement of their destination*

*Haldir paddled to the shore. Then he lifted Katya elegantly up in his arms and placed her gently and carefully on the ground. After that, he pulled the canoe up from the sea and fastened it to a tree, before taking their belongings. He was a strong man, and could carry it all without effort. He smiled to Katya.*
"Before we start exploring, let's find somewhere to set up camp for the time we'll stay here. Do you see any place you like?"

((I'm imagining it as looking like the Ruins of Osgiliath)) *She pointed to an open area near the city, but still within the trees...and perhaps, out of reach of anything that might be hostile that lay within the buildings* "That looks like it would do."
