((Yes, yes it was. Thank you.))
*Brandi shrugged.*
"It doesn't hurt. I suppose it is different for different people though." *She tried to stay positive.* "You don't have to if you don't want to. But the offer is there." *She smiled slightly.*

Cry-Baby smiled bravely.
"I'll try anything lets me stay by your side, baby," he said solemnly.

*Brandi's smile strengthened as her eyes found his. Maybe they could do this. She pursed her lips longingly.*
"I should get started on that door." *She said finally, starting toward the hall.*
"You gonna be ok in the meantime?" *The statement was ambiguous, but she actually meant his face.*

"Yeah," he said, not understanding. "Got him, anyway. And I should get to know the new ones."
He offered her a smile, a promise he'd make this work.

*Brandi nodded.*
"Sorry. Locke, Stalk and Bearel." *She pointed out each crib in turn.*
"Kit's on the end. Just...be mindful of Lolcat. He's taken a shine to that one."
*With that, Brandi slipped out and next door.*

Cry-Baby was already hovering over the cradles, examining the new ones. There sure were plenty--he hadn't thought War meant this many. But he liked kids, as weird as it was that these were all his.
The Kit one was kinda funny, though. As he bent over, Lolcat woke up and hissed at him.
"Jus' lookin'," he said irritably. "She's my kid, y'know."
"LOLCAT CAN HAS KITTEN," the cat said. "KITTEN CAN HAS LOLCAT BLANKET."
"Whatever," Cry-Baby said. These were that Bonnie girl's, weren't they? She'd been kind of a fox.
"Wait... four?" he said aloud. "Four kids from that tiny girl?"

***LATER***
*Brandi knocked softly before entering.*
"Am I interrupting?" *She offered with a smile. She was still a little pale, but not hindered physically.*

"Nope," Cry-Baby said, fairly calm now that he'd cooed over every single child in the nursery. He smiled up at Brandi. "Just gettin' acquainted. You okay?"

"Just a little tired." *Brandi answered, approaching the crib his was over at the moment.*
"You've been making new friends then?" *She inquired, brow lifted as she glanced into the crib.*

"Hope so," Cry-Baby said, smiling easily. "They're awful cute."

"Yeah." *Brandi answered, a little preoccupied.* "Guess they have their moments."
*She chewed her lip.*
"Everything's done. I mean...ready. When you want to turn in." *It was a strange thing to say. It kinda made her think about about Willow locking up Oz. But that thought held a lot of other complications that she so wasn't dealing with right now.*

"Hey," Cry-Baby said, holding out an arm and hoping she'd settle in next to him. "Thanks, baby. For doin' this. And for understandin'. You don't know how sorry I feel, puttin' you through this. And then leavin' them to you to take care of... I'll do better. Promise."

*Brandi's eyes fell for a moment, but she found herself closer still. She had almost embraced him before she caught herself, quickly turning to lift Kit out of her crib.*
"It's all right. We manage." *She smiled a bit surer.* "Though I ain't saying it's not better having you. 'Cause it is."

Least this way, he was under her eye, Cry-Baby thought. Which had to be comforting. Though he imagined it wouldn't have been any easier, watching... His mind turned away from the thought.
He bent to kiss the top of her head.
"You just tell me when you don't want me 'round, okay?" he said softly. "I ain't here to torture you."
Lolcat was staring at them balefully. What was with that stupid cat anyway?

((Just so you know, I dig on the CB/Lolcat dynamic a lot.))
"I know..." *Brandi whispered, tired and a little sad, but also happy and relieved to have him home. The whole matter was kinda confusing.*
"I just want to help you...us...get through this. I think we can. I believe it, in my heart."
