Cry-Baby followed her lead and sat, wondering only momentarily at Brandi's smile.
Of course, with him gone, they'd... His mind shied away, hoping he wouldn't remember to be jealous the next time he wasn't in control again.

((Let's assume she found her.))
Kris entered after Brandi, already going over the problem in her head and with a wad of ice wrapped in a towel in her hand.
"I'm sorry," she said. "You should have been icing it to begin with. Does it hurt? Did you swallow a lot of blood, do you think?"

*Brandi watched, a hint of anxiousness seeping in to her collected demeanor. She didn't want him to be in pain, but she knew that Kris had a better chance of patching him back up properly. She swayed, shifting her weight between her feet as she tried to stay our of the way.*

"I..." Now that he was thinking about it, it did hurt, but he wasn't gonna break down and cry about it. "Yeah, it hurts," he said. "And I don't know; maybe. Probably. There was blood."
He took the ice pack with his free hand and pressed it to his nose, which hurt initially but did help numb the pain.

Kris glanced at Brandi sympathetically, even as she rechecked her facts.
"It doesn't look too bad; I mean, I don't think it's crooked, just swollen. Which means all we can do is ice and aspirin."
Her brow furrowed, and she reached into her pocket to draw out an incongruous bottle. "I'd've made it look more period, but I have more trouble with things I'm less familiar with."

*Brandi nodded, her eyes distant and preoccupied.*
"I'll get you some water." *She offered detachedly before turning to slip out into the hall to fetch it.*

Cry-Baby's eyes followed her before he glanced back at Kris.
"She okay?" he asked quietly.
"She's okay," Kris hazarded. "I mean, enough. She misses you."
He sighed, and looked down, staring sightlessly at the wad of towel that held the ice. Kris took hold of it and raised it to his face.
"She's got you," he said, not attaining the ease he was going for.
"It's not the same," Kris said. "I never thought it would be. I just help; I'm not what you are to her. She needs you. I mean... she doesn't need you to survive, but to be... well, what she wants to be. Let me take Killian for a second."
Cry-Baby protested, but Kris plucked the fussing child from his arms and changed him quickly, placing him back in his cradle before picking up another. Cry-Baby lowered his ice pack.
"Don't touch me," he warned, sounding weary.
"Shh," Kris said. "It's okay." She reached up and examined his face gently. The swelling was going down, a little, though he'd be black and blue for a while. His eyes widened and he winced as the intake of breath disturbed his nose. She stared directly at him. "You don't feel anything, do you?" she asked. "When I touch you, I mean."
"No," he said.
Her voice held only a tinge of bitterness, though in truth it was a good thing, too. "Her, too. I don't know why. Here," she deposited another baby in his arms. "I just wanted to know."
"Be bad for you if you were wrong," he said.
She shrugged. "I guess. But it's better, to know."

*Brandi returned with a glass of water. She looked a little troubled, but like she was trying to hard to be strong and not bothered by it.*
"Here." *She offered the glass carefully now that he wasn't holding the child.*
"What else can I do?" *Her question wasn't really directed at either of them in particular.*

Kris laid the baby in Cry-Baby's arms. Or arm.
"That's it," she said. "You can get me out of your hair."
She smiled at Brandi, hoping things would be all right, and knowing they would be if fate--or whoever--could stop knocking them around a little.

Cry-Baby watched her go, swallowing the aspirin and shifting his hold on Gavyn.
"What's eatin' you?" he asked softly. "I mean, other than the obvious."

"Just..." *Brandi closed the distance between them, touching Gavyn gently before her other hand sought Cry-Baby.*
"It's hard." *She whispered honestly, vulnerability sneaking into her voice.* "I miss having you. Around here. I hate the not knowing and the having to let you go."
*She tried to regain her composure, lifting her eyes to his with a sigh.*
"But it's all right. It's just been a hard couple of days. I'll get over it."
*She swallowed, forcing herself to say the words.* "I know that you're not ready to be here. Full time." *She managed a sad smile.*

Cry-Baby set the ice down and tipped her chin up with chilly fingers.
"I'd try, if you asked me," he said quietly.

*Brandi swooned, knees weaken by the cold softness of his skin. She knew what he had to do, why he had to go, why this wasn't safe.*
"Stay." *She breathed, lashes fluttering. Trying to steady herself, she leaned her weight against his shoulder.*
"With me. As long as you can." *Her words were still soft. Finally her eyes found his.* "Please."

It was Cry-Baby's turn to swallow, knowing he couldn't resist her and didn't want to. Hadn't wanted to do this in the first place.
"Yeah," he breathed. "I'll stay. Long as you want me."
He pressed a kiss to her forehead, her nose, her lips... soft and promising, his resistance overcome.

*Oh God, he tasted good. His tender lips had been so missed. So desperately needed. Her free hand moved to cradle his cheek, the other desperately trying to stay where it needed to and all the while she tried to force back the thought of how bad an idea this was. She just wanted him. She was tired of waiting. Of not having.*
"I missed you...so much." *She spoke against his lips between kisses. She couldn't find the words to express her flooding emotions.*
