*After travelling an incredible distance before arriving at it's destination, a letter came for the mistress of the house. The hand it was written in was unmistakable--Marius' rather artistic lettering*
My love,
The journey here was a long, rather exhausting one, but other than the tiredness that comes from travel and the boredom of being cooped up on a ship, I've come through in good health.
My mother, I found near collapse from the constant strain and worry she must have been in while watching over my father. She's resting, now, after a more than merely happy reunion (it's been too long since I've seen my parents). My father...
I arrived just in time, Aimee. It was as though he was holding out only to see me before moving on. It hurt to see him in so much pain, a pale shadow of his real self. But he got hear of you, and our little family, before he moved on. He got to hear of his daughter-in-law and grandchildren before the illness claimed him. I don't know what grieves me more--that you won't ever get to meet him, that Alain and Johanna will never know him, or that I couldn't say all I wanted to.
I'm staying only for a short while, to settle affairs here and to arrange passage back to Paris for mother. We will be coming back as soon as possible, but the trip is so long...the twins will have grown so much since I last saw them. I miss you and them so much, and so badly want to see home again.
Until next we meet, Marius

*Aimee nearly attacked the housekeeper when she brought it up and almost cried from relief when she saw who it was from. After reading it, she was going to write back, but realized that he'd probably be on a ship home by now... after all this time... then she danced around the house like a Disney princess, humming to herself while the babies napped.*

**SOME TIME LATER**
*Despite the fact that they'd arrived in Paris in the wee hours of the morning, Marius and his mother had both insisted that they be driven to the Pontmercy estate straightaway, without delay. They'd been away from home for too long, and and Marius was desperate to see his wife and children, his mother too excited about meeting them to bother with sleep.
And so they both arrived, the two Pontmercys immediately looking better for being home again, though they were still weary from the long days of travel from Brazil. Home never looked so wonderful.*

((I will not make them Notebookkiss, I will not make them Notebookkiss.))
*Perhaps it was some kind of husband-radar, but Aimee knew as soon as he was in the house. She awoke at once and, following the sound of his voice, dashed downstairs in her nightgown, hair flying out behind her.*
*She could barely breathe for happiness once she reached the top of the stairs and caught sight of him.* "MARIUS!" *She cried, practically tripping on the stairs in her haste to glomp him. Which she did, with a force that was surprising considering her size. She had eyes only for him; she hadn't spotted his mother... but even if she'd known, she wouldn't have cared. She was too busy trying to bury herself in Marius's arms (or possibly crush his trachea with love), impossibly happy just to have him home again.*

((I have no idea what that means, having never seen the movie))
*He was just able to keep his balance against the force of her momentum, though he still stumbled backwards a bit--but at least they both didn't go crashing to the floor. His mother stood off to one side, watching with a bit of amusement and a touch of envy.
Marius held her tightly to him, breathing in the scent of her hair and reveling in the feel of her in his arms. Once he regained solid footing, he was covering her face with kisses*

((She basically glomp-leaps onto him, holds on with her thighs, and kisses him like a champ. Preferably in rain. Except not so much with Aimee in a nightgown.))
*She placed one hand on the back of his head to still him, in order to kiss him properly on the mouth.*

*He was kissing her back with much enthusiasm when his mother loudly cleared her throat from somewhere behind him*
"I think I'll turn in...introductions will have to wait, I think, as I'm certain you'll be occupied for some time."
*There was the sparkle of good humor in her voice*

*Aimee froze mid kiss and backed away, turning a bright shade of scarlet.*
"I.. er..." *She squeaked. Whoops. What did you say in that situation? 'Sorry, my sex drive distracted me from meeting my mother-in-law'?*

*Marius, too, was red-faced*
"Er...maman, I--"
*The elder Pontmercy held up her hand, her eyes twinkling*
"No need to apologize, my dears. I completely understand. And of course, I will get out of your hair, hmm?"
*Giving them a knowing wink, she made her way upstairs.
Marius let out an embarrassed laugh*
"Well, that's maman for you. She's a hard one to fluster."

*She was rather pink still.* "That... had to have made an impression." *She said, embarassed.*

*He smiled through the blush*
"Not a bad one, rest-assured. Besides, she can't really say anything because I've caught her like that with papa in the past."

"I wouldn't have, except it had been so long since I'd seen you, and the babies are..." *She heard a stirring and soft waking-up yawns coming from the nursery.* "Were asleep, so I couldn't really bring them down to present them and..." *She babbled, characteristic embarassed-Aimee behavior.*

"It's been too long for both of us, ma cherie. And too long since I've seen family and home..."
*He glanced in the direction of the nursery*
"They must be so big now."

*She nodded.* "Alain's walking already, and Johanna's started to say 'Maman'..." *She trailed off. She heard fussing coming from the nursery.* "Oh, I... they're awake; they always wake up at this time of night and they probably heard me yelling before and.."

"Well, then, let's...let's go see them."
*He was hesitant, as though afraid that since he'd been gone so long, they'd react badly to him*
