*He grabbed Nightfall's shoulders, not roughly, but firmly*
"Nightfall, listen to me. This is a problem that all who live in Lorien must know--elf, human, or otherwise. It can't be lightly brushed aside. You have to tell as many people as possible."

*Nightfall looked up at him, with a smile, arching her eyebrow knowingly.*
"I think you're forgetting who you're talking to. The demonchild with the worst reputation in all of Lorien. The main prankster and troublemaker. The other elves starts walking in the opposite direction when they see me. How am I supposed to tell them anything? And do you really expect them to believe in me?"

*He lifted his chin, suddenly wearing the profile and bearing of a nobleman*
"They will believe you if I am there to back up your word."

*Nightfall looked up at him, blushing deeply.*
"But Legolas, you were not supposed to be here, remember. We will both be in big trouble if my parents even know we have met. Not to mention how uncle Ramses will react."

"I think that won't matter very much to them if their entire nation is in danger."

*Nightfall shrugged with a smile.*
"Besides, I'd rather face THEM unarmed, than facing my mother's wrath."

"Tell someone, Nightfall. If for no other reason, do it for Lorien."

*Nightfall smiled and looked up at him.*
"For Lorien, you say? We elves are protected by our magic. It is the humans that should watch their backs. And I do not care for humans."

*His expression was dead serious*
"That is the sort of attitude that will get Lorien destroyed. I'm sorry you feel that way."
*So saying, he turned on his heel and began to stride away*

*Nightfall shook her head, her eyes were sad.*
"Lorien is already destroyed. By the humans you love so much. True that the former king was no saint. But in his time we never faced starvation or plague. And THEY were not roaming our borders this openly. We did not have any crime rates, and we did not need any money. We used to live the way elvens are supposed to live: Happy and free. It is my duty to see to that we will be capable of living that way again."

*He turned to face her, though he was standing some distance away*
"You don't understand. If none of us work together to keep the demons at bay, all of our old prejudices and fights and arguments will seem like picnics compared to what will wait for us if we keep looking down upon each other. I never claimed to love humans, but you're not looking at everything: you're blaming them all for the actions of a few. You can't do that. And you need to stop forgetting that this world is their world, too. Trust me when I say, they wouldn't want it over-run by demons any more than elves or dwarves would.
But if the elves are too stubborn to get over their old animosities, then nobody will. Maybe we don't deserve this world, if we can't even learn to live in it."
*Once more, he turned away, striding faster across the grass. Not angry...simply, disappointed*

*Nightfall Siofra looked back at him.*
"You don't understand. The human rulers murdered my mother's best friends to worm their way to the throne. My mother forbids me to even go near the castle. I do not want to speak to the very same persons who caused my mother's grieving. When Queen Tearbird died, my mother's innocent world crumbled, and she was soon thrown into a world of war and chaos. I can not, and will not break my mother's heart by go against her wishes in this matter."
*She sighed and turned away.*
"Besides, my mother tried to warn Eleanor about this before I was born, and the human rulers have not done anything about it. So my mother is leading a small group to put a stop to the problem. I am not supposed to speak of this, but you give me no choice."

"I'm not talking about the human rulers! I'm talking about all other humans!" He said exasperatedly.
"See, this is why I avoid civilization. People annoy me." He grumbled, still walking away. He was almost into the trees.

*Nightfall sighed as she watched him go. If he chose to leave, it was not for her to run after him. She was not the kind of woman who would beg a man to stay.*
I am already doing my part to protecting the world against the Devilish people. My entire person, my life, even my creation is based on their extinction. I am standing in front of a big, personal sacrifice to save the rest of the world.
And the rest of the world consider me to be a troublemaker. So much for kindred spirits.
