"Of course not," he said gently. "But I doubt it would enter any of their heads to come to Persia. They know they can wait to see us back in either France or England."
"Persia is not meant for those without survival instincts, Vianne. If you do not learn to survive here, you will perish."
He looked down at her meaningfully.

"I have not perished yet," *she said softly, glancing at him.* "I will survive. OOOOH IT TOOK ALL THE STRENGTH I HAD NOT TO FALL APART TRYIN HARD TO MEND THE PIECES OF MY BROKEN HEART AND I SPENT OH SO MANY NIGHTS JUST FEELIN SORRY FOR MYSELF I USED TO CRY BUT NOW I HOLD MY HEAD UP HIGH AND YOU'LL SEE ME SOMEBODY NEW"

He smiled at her.
"You thrive, my love," he murmered.

"Only when I'm with you," *she replied, nudging her shoulder against his.* "We have this odd habit of being indecently cute feeding one another's joie de vivre."

Percy eyed her.
"I trust that is not unexpected, my lady," he said dryly. "We breach social convention with our inflagerato littierae."

*Vianne leaned over and kissed him slowly, parting her lips against his for a moment.*
"Were it not the language of the Church, I might admit that Latin causes certain non-pious thoughts to take root in my mind."

Percy smiled wickedly and kissed his wife in a decidedly non-pious manner.
"I think, madame," he said, his voice strained, "that you have no need to make an admission of guilt, considering you're kissing me quite openly in public."

"It's a walled garden," *she countered.* "Hardly public." *To cement her point, she kissed a path up to his ear and nibbled it gently.*

Percy groaned.
"Madame, you will either desist this instant, or I'm carrying you to bed." He slid his hands through her hair and down her back, curving around the sides, his fingers just brushing the swelling of her breasts.

"I hear it is the fashion in these countries to retire indoors during the hottest part of the day," *she said with a chuckle, as even the loose trousers he wore failed to disguise his response to her touch.* "...when in Rome..."

He smiled, a devlish glint in his blue eyes.
"As my ladyship commands," he said, and swept her into his arms, carrying her to the huge four poster bed that was waiting for them, thinking about how beautiful it would be to make love to her in the dying sunlight and sweltering heat.
**FADE OUT**

***FADE IN***
*Whether her skin was bathed in sweat or burning dry, she could hardly tell or care. How Percy managed to amaze her in some small way, every time, well--it amazed her. Wearing a goofy smile, she rolled over to face her husband.*
"I've been reading about harems," *she said, with little preamble.*

Percy quirked an eyebrow.
"And?" he asked curiously. "What has my lady discovered?

"They have some truly grotesque ideas about pleasure in this culture," *she said.* "But I admit that all but the most outlandish ideas hold some strange, fascinating appeal."

With a grin, Percy pushed himself up on his arms and looked at his wife.
"I pray you, indulge me, love," he drawled. "I am most fascinated to hear your ideas."
