*Nessa entered the tree house and stepped aside, allowing Captain Kirk to go first.*
"I could have gotten you a room in the castle," *She explained.* "But King Orduag's behaviour is getting worse every day. He is making everyone's life miserable. You will be better off here. There will be food and anything you need in here. Please feel free to explore. This is your home for as long as you want to stay. Welcome to Lorien."

*Kirk frowned. He had experience with tyrants.*
"This King Orduag," *he said.* "What's he like?"

*Leetah looked up at him with tears in her beautiful blue eyes.*
"He is the devil himself. Some time ago, he received a ring. We don't know who sent it. When he put it on, he became more cruel, evil... He beat up the queen, raped almost all the elf girls.... not me or Leetah.... and he is TALKING to the ring, calling it Precious. He wants to rape me. He has ordered me to serve him dinner today. I fear he wants me for dessert."

*Kirk's face became stern as he blood rose.*
"Why hasn't anyone done anything about this before?" *he snapped.* "To allow that sort of thing to go on. What sort of people are these?"
((English note: "He beated up the queen" should be "He beat up the queen." It's one of those verbs that doesn't get a suffix.))

*Nessa blushed.*
"The king is evil. And we elves have always been friendly. When we are not forced to defend ourselves or our allies."
((Thanks for correcting me. I'm bad at verbs. :-) ))

"Friendly is all very well, but to allow a tyrant to rise up in your midst, and not do anything--that seems to call for action."
*Kirk deliberately loosened the fist he'd made involuntarily.*
"How did such a man come to power?"
((It's just that we have all those stupid verbs that don't have the same rules.))

*Nessa blushed and looked up at him again.*
"Ehh... he was the only son of our former king and queen....." *She replied shyly."
((We have some stupid rules in Norwegian grammar too.))

"Well it's not right," *Kirk understated.* "Someone should have done something. Isn't there a resistance movement? Another heir? Something?"

*Nessa blushed and looked up at him.*
"Well, we have Captain Haldir. The Highest Commander of the Elven Army. The only reason he is still here, is because he loves Queen Tearbird. And his sister Leetah, who fights like a tiger every time the king tries to touch her. Everyone else is afraid of him. And he kills everyone that tries to stand up to him..."

**NEW DAY**
*Kirk had been trying to get information about the situation here. And none of it sounded good.
In fact, the king--and queen--had just been killed.
He paced around the treehouse, hating that he hadn't been able to stop it. That he was so out of his depth.*

*Nessa knocked on the door, looking anxious around her, afraid someone might even notice she was here.*
"Captain Kirk, are you home? It's me - Nessa. I need to talk to you...."

"Enter," *he said, forgetting he wasn't on his ship and the doors didn't open of their own accord. Well, it wasn't locked, anyway.*
"Nessa," *he said.* "It's good to see you."

*Nessa blushed and looked up at him. She hadn't remembered he was this goodlooking.*
"It's good to see you too Captain Kirk... I mean James,"
*She replied.*
"I came to see you because of all the things that has happened. You might have heard about the murders of the King and Queen?"

*Kirk frowned righteously.*
"I have. And it's deplorable; not that the king is deposed, but the queen. I had heard she was a good woman."

*Nessa's beautiful blue eyes filled with tears. One tear trickled down her cheek*
"She was the best queen we ever had...."
*She said, her voice trembling with the pain she tried to keep inside.*
"She was so gentle and sweet and kind.... and very unhappy in her marriage..."
