"Oh, they don't cost anything, my dear," *he said, shaking his head.* "Just the promise that they'll have a good home."

Her face lit up. "Really? Oh, thank you, monsieur! I can assure you this one will have a great home! I've just moved someplace new so there'll be lots of room for running and playing and..." She trailed off, realizing it was unlikely that he cared.
She moved toward the door, still cradling the kitten gently. Glancing back, she curtseyed at Aziraphale as best she could without using her arms (since they were occupied by a small, fuzzy thing). "Thank you. Have a good day, monsieur!" And with that she was gone.

**NEW DAY**
Crowley walked into the shop through the back door. Outside, the city was bathed in orange light from the sunset. Crowley had tried to find time all day, but he'd had so much work he needed to get done that he had only just made it before dark to avoid a run-in Herbert.
"Hello?" he called.

*He'd been expecting Crowley to arrive, but it was still a bit of a shock seeing him as he entered the shop.*
"Good afternoon."

"Hi. Where are they?" he asked hurriedly.

"They're all back here," *he said, motioning to a basket in the corner of the room.* "I don't like letting them in with all the books." * Most of the kittens- there were only six left now- were asleep, but one looked up and mewed when it saw Crowley.*

Crowley bent down and put a hand out to the kitty that was looking at him.
"Hey, there, little guy," he said, ready to pull his hand back if the cat tried to scratch him— Crowley had always been terrible with animals. The kitten crawled a little closer to the demon and nuzzled his hand, purring softly.
Crowley smiled. "I'll take this one."

*Aziraphale smiled fondly.*
"He seems to like you."

He scratched the kitten under its chin. "I like him too. So are you just giving these a way or do I need to pay you?"

"Do you really think I'd charge for you to give him a good home, my d- Crowley?*

Crowley noticed Aziraphale catching himself and cringed. "I suppose not. Well, thank you very much. It was great seeing you again," he said, picking up the kitten.

"Right. See you around." With that, Crowley turned around and left the bookshop without looking back.

**GIMME**
Sunflower walked in the shop and was immediately attracted to the sound of mewing kittens "Ow adorable!" She giggled and tickled one in the belly.

*Aziraphale appeared in the doorway with a smile.*
"Hello there. I assume you saw the ad?"
