((Enter the drama.))
*Philippe glanced up and noticed the dancer. A grim expression formed on his face. Silently he stood and moved towards her.*
"La Sorelli."

((He's all drunkinated and why else would he talk to La Sorelli unless he was planning on banging her?))

((That won't happen because she's happily married. But we can certainly have wangst))
*She didn't notice him at first, but she didn't have to see to know who it was--the voice was enough. She'd know it anywhere. Taking a deep breath, she turned to Philippe, giving him one of her charming smiles, her eyes alone showing that she had missed him. Thought of him.*
"Greetings, monsieur De Changy." She said politely. "It has been some time since last we spoke, hasn't it?"
*Her voice didn't carry any hint of her feelings*

"Yes."
*Philippe spoke unsteadily.*
"Too long."

*Seeing the state he was in, her tone changed, her words only for his ears*
"Are you well, Philippe?"

*Philippe laughed bitterly.*
"I am alive, which in society is the same."
*His voice lowered.*
"Are you?"

"I'm very well--I'm doing ballet again, and I am going to dance in the newest opera at the Populaire."
*She studied his face for a moment, wondering if she should bring up the subject she was curious about*
"I heard of your marriage to the daughter of Madame Giry. You have my congratulations."

*Philippe nodded.*
"Mmm."
*It was odd, others talking of them. It seemed further away.*
"I heard you got...married."

*She nodded, for some reason afraid to look him in the eye*
"Lawrence is a dear. I still can't believe that he asked me, and it has been several years already."
*She didn't voice what she was thinking*
It was not long after you left me.

*Philippe felt, well relieved in a sense. His obligations were over, not that he had paid any heed to any sense of guilt at the time. You would have to be sober to do that. Still there was an odd feeling of loss, rather like perhaps the memory of a childhood hiding place or the loss of a favorite dog. The relationship was past, well past but still her presense brought back memories of a time in which he had not the weight he had now.*
"I am glad for you."
*He attempted a smile.*
"You deserve to be happy."
*He wished that he could see the same for himself but he could not see past the endless days, until perhaps she returned.*

*Without really knowing what she was doing, she reached out and touched his arm, then quickly dropped her hand when she realized she had*
"If..."
*She paused. Would it be out of place to say it?*
"Keep in touch? Letters are always welcome."
*She couldn't say it--telling him that he had a shoulder to lean on wouldn't be entirely right. They were both married, to other people, and dear god would the rumor mill start spinning*
