"Can't say the same for you." *He said.*

*She had half-smiled as she had spoke; now something shifted in her eyes and she ran a hand distractedly through her hair.*
"It's been eight years," *she said with a shrug.* "Did you honestly expect I'd still be nine?"

*He chuckled.* "I guess not. We've both changed, I guess." *He said. He knew for a fact he'd changed, at least physically.*

"Not that it matters," *she said quietly.* "Change seems to drift by Manderley...things DO change, but...the important things stay the same."
*And it was true. People grew, were born, died, made mistakes, and healed and moved on, but the cycles of life on the estate went on season after season with little to shake things up.*

"Manderley hasn't changed much since the west wing burned down when I was a baby." *He said, chuckling.*
"...and you weren't nine." *He added.* "You were almost nine."

*She scoffed a little.*
"Fine. ALMOST nine. What difference does it make? Now I'm ALMOST seventeen."

*Mirth bubbled behind his eyes.*
"What matters is that you still get angry when I remind you."

"Everything about ye makes me angry," *she retorted.* "And stop smiling like that."

*He smirked.*
"Smiling like what?"

"Like ye've seen me starkers," *she snapped.*

"Well I haven't, so I'll smile whatever way I bloody well want to."

"Ugh!" *Sorcha rolled her eyes and pushed past him, walking back through the woods.*
"And don't touch my guitar!" *she called back.*

*He rolled his eyes and stalked off the other direction, towards the house. He pulled his shirt over his head, as it was noon and it was getting ridiculously hot out. Maybe he'd go for a swim.*

**NEW DAY**
*Liam sat thinking, hardly noticing as the rain began falling. He'd been wrapped up in childhood memories... when he did notice the rain, he decided he'd wait the storm out here. The walk back to the house was a long one indeed.*

*Sorcha had been walking in the forest and reading through an old diary with frail and brittle pages when the first drop of rain plopped onto the page, smearing the already faded ink. Clutching the book to her chest, she began to run even as the skies poured down upon her, trying to save the book.*
The treehouse. I can make it to the treehouse.
*She grabbed onto the rope ladder and climbed it easily one-handed, stopping as she neared the top to throw the book up through the trap door. She heard it land on the floor with a thud before she popped into the treehouse, looking utterly bedraggled and soaked to the skin.*
