"Sorry, hon, but he's not exactly a Viscount."
*She smiled.*
"Well, we'll see when he gets back, I guess." *She said brightly.* "Bye!"

"Good day, missus," *said Kathy with a curtsy, turning back to her work, singing again.*

*Micaela merrily made her way to the stables, singing 'Suddenly Seymour' loudly for no other reason than the other sue!her was singing it, too she felt energetic and bouncy.*

***NEW DAY***
((After The Beach))
*Kathy led Michael into the small outbuilding, where the boilers and washtubs sat clean and empty, and the clean clothes hung to dry in the sunshine, line after line of clothes strung beside each other. She tossed him a clean shirt and some trousers.*
"Those should fit ye," *she said, before she took down a nightgown and shawl that belonged to her. She stepped between two hanging bedsheets to change out of her wet dress, but the hot sun streamed down upon them, casting her silhouette darkly against the white sheets.*

*He couldn't really help but stare. He was a human, after all, and she had grown up quite beautifully. He felt his heart skip a beat but he chastised himself for even thinking such things. He shook himself out of it and went behind the laundryhouse itself to change.*

*Wearing nothing but the plain white nightgown over her bare skin, prickling with the drying salt water, Kathy wrapped a shawl around her shoulders, though the nightgown had long sleeves and buttoned up to her neck. She took her wet clothes into the laundryhouse and rinsed them out before hanging them to dry, doing the same to Michael's clothes. She glanced at her bare feet and let out a curse.*
"I left me boots on the beach!"
*Grumbling, she turned to go back down the path to get them.*

*He rolled his eyes.*
"You go back to my room, Kath. It's closer. I'll get the boots." *He ran off towards the beach.*

***NEW z0mgWEDDING DAY***
*At dusk, Kathy stood at the back of the wash-house, her shawl wrapped around her shoulders as the cool dark fell in the shadows even as the last golden glory of the summer sun set everything alight and diffused a dim radiance throughout the air. Listening to the crickets in the stillness, Kathy watched the wisps of clouds traveling across the sky--streaked with pink, orange and blue--and waited.*

*He walked across the moors lawns, touching the rings in his pocket as if to remind himself that they were still there. He finally found her, and said quietly:*
"I made arrangements with Mr. de Winter--he's going to let us have the groundskeeper's cottage." *He said quietly.*

"That's good of him," *she responded in a similar tone.* "Thank you for speaking to him about it. I never would have thought to..."

*He nodded.*
"I... I didn't get to give you a proper engagement ring, Kath, but I remembered that I had this one from my grandmother..." *He said softly, taking out a modest-sized ring with one circular diamond and a few others surrounding it. He held it up as if to put if on her finger.*

*She gasped aloud.*
"Michael!" *she yelped.* "For the love o' God, take it back--I'll drop it and lose it forever in this grass! Ye know I'm an absolute butterfingers!" *Her hasty and honest reaction was a practical one--her palms were already sweating.*

"Kath, I can't marry you without givin' you an engagement ring!" *He said, almost tersely but mostly with affection.*

"The engagement's been on less than a day! And I don't mind, really! It's just the weddin' ring that's the important bit..." *she bit her lip, then caught Michael's look and burst out laughing.*
"...well, fine, then--put it on." *She held out her hand.* "But I'm putting it somewhere safe as soon as we get back from church. I hope you've got something cheap and sensible like...a gasket off a boiler or something for the wedding ring."
