"Of course. There's nothing I can think of I wouldn't do for a friend."
*He smiled warmly down at her.*
"What would you like me to ask her. Beyond finding out if she's still interested in you that is? And a nicely worded apology for spooking."

*Lizzie got anxious again, but tried to calm herself. After all, apparently that was attractive.*
"I...I think that'd be a good enough start. Don't 'ya?"
*Suddenly she didn't look so sure, but she didn't want to get ahead of herself. What good was it to sort out her feelings only to find that it wasn't any use?*

"Well yes... for the first twenty seconds of the conversation. But unless I'm to go fetch her for you I think I might need a bit more to say."
*He grinned as she fidgeted. She just couldn't help it.*
"Girl if you wind yourself up anymore your going to start vibrating."
*He moved behind the counter and mixed up something girly and low in alcohol with lots of chocolate.*
"Here... drink this."

*Lizzie took the drink without question and downed it a little too quickly. Only then did she realize how good it was.*
"Gee...thanks, Mister."
*She chewed her lip and rubbed the cup in thought.*
"Well...I dunno. What would 'ya say?"
*Her eyes were troubled, but suddenly lightened.*
"Maybe 'ya could bring her here and I'll just wait and see if she's still all agreeable. If she is, then we could talk. Maybe I could do it then."

*Jeremy smiled, chuckling a little.*
"I could do that. But it's a bit of a walk. Might need something to talk about on the way over. And you might come up."
*He winked as he took the cup and refilled it.*

*Lizzie looked deep in thought and a might bit perplexed about it. It looked like something was gonna break in her brain if he kept trying to get her to tell him things that she wasn't ready to process.*
"Well...whada'ya think I should tell her? I mean...what sort of thing 'ya lookin' fer me to say?"
*She chewed her lip, trying to process everything.*
"Maybe 'ya could get her here first, and then do the talkin'. Then ya'd need less. I could write her. Or..."

*Rochester had been so down lately, what with the whole Shadi situation, that Alex found it expedient to seek her meals elsewhere. She herself was still moping about Lizzie, and didn't feel it helped Rochester a lot for her to be bringing the place down, too.
But she was astonished, upon entering the first place she saw, to see the subject of her thoughts sitting and chatting nervously with a young man.*

*Lizzie looked up as the new customer entered. Serves her right for taking up Jermey's time like that. But then she saw who it was and the color immediately escaped her face. She stood and wrung her hands, prancing like an anxious pony.*
"Oh! Alex...I mean..."
*She couldn't meet her gaze.*

*Alex's face colored.*
"Lizzie. Miss Quinn. That is... I didn't know you were... here."

*Lizzie looked between Alex and Jeremy and back again. She didn't realize that she had started to back away slightly.*
"I...uh...I shouldn't...be...here...now."
*She glanced to the door, but there was an irresistible redhead in the way. And so she started towards the door behind her that led upstairs.*

*Alex kind of couldn't believe what she was seeing. So it just came out, without her thinking about it?*
"Are you... running away from me?"

*Lizzie's voice escaped before she could think.*
"Yes."
*She turned back quickly with a look of surprise and then indignation.*
"No. Of course not. It's just..."
*She had had a plan. It was a good one. Why couldn't it just be like that and all work? You know, with the her being elsewhere...*
"Just wasn't expectin' 'ya any more than 'ya did me."

"Yes, but I didn't turn tail."
*Suddenly she burst into laughter, all the maudlin anxiety of the past few days escaping in her ill-considered amusement at the thought of a girl just running away from the situation. It was so unsubtle.*
"I'm sorry!" *she said, wiping her eyes.* "I'm not... I'm laughing at the situation. Promise."

*That was it. Lizzie felt her face redden. She hiked her skirts and took long strides to clear the distance between them. She didn't even slow as she drew her fist back to slam it hard into Alex's jaw.*
"It ain't funny!"

((hahaha awesome))
*Alex abruptly stopped laughing, the breath knocked out of her. She fingered her jaw, working it around.*
"Not when you put it that way, I guess not. I'm sorry, I'll go. I've been..."
Laying awake at night, thinking of you. Walking around alone, thinking of you.
*She figured it was probably wise to refrain from mentioning that Lizzie hit like a man.*
