*Katie smiled at her children and closed the door behind Micaela.*
*Almost instantly, twin reheads came tumbling out of their room and launched themselves at Micaela's legs.* Hey, what about us?

*Micaela smiled at both of her godchildren.*
"Don't worry if you don't know how to play it, I can show you the basics sometime." *She said to Teddy, before being nearly knocked over. She hugged the urchins around her legs before presenting them with two loud, complicated-looking noisemakers, one of which made a siren noise and the other a loud honking, and a large, hadmade magic set. The noisemakers only worked if one figured the mechanics of them out, and the magic set was made for two people and was of the finest quality despite the fact that she had no money.*
"I heard you two were the jokesters of the family--I was considering a trick knife, but I figured your mum wouldn't like that." *She said, winking at Katie.* "Though I have a feeling she's going to want to kill be after you figure out the noisemakers."
*She smiled at them all.* "And please. I'm your godmum. Call me Auntie, or something. Only important, boring people call me Miss, and that's only because I'm making sure I get paid for my Operas."

Thanks, Auntie! *The kids chorused before running off to play. Katie laughed.* Thanks, Micaela. Now, how was Ireland? How is everything?

*Micaela smiled a bit weakly.*
"Home was lovely while I was there but...a lot of my family's been infected with a fever--and my mum passed away two weeks ago, along with my cousin and her husband and kids. I'm fine, I promise." *She said.* "I'm concentrating on work, keeping myself busy. I can't go back there and see my family like that--I'm not strong enough."
((I think we need to devise a plan so that Teddy can come stay at Micaela's for a period of time. I used to do that all the time... go to Marietta or Colorado to spend the week with an aunt or uncle.))

((He so needs to. ;D))
Teddy frowned sympathetically. "I'm sure they'll be okay, Auntie. Just keep up hope!"

*Micaela smiled and ruffled Teddy's hair.*
"I'll be fine. Music is my outlet, it's how I release my feelings, whether sad or happy. I'm thinking of writing a new Opera soon."

"Really? What'll it be about?" he asked, impressed.

*She bit her lip, thinking. When she told the complete synopsis, the spoke it with enthusiasm and dramatics.*
"Well, there's going to be a princess from India named Purnima who visits the courts of Persia, and her family wants her to marry the Sultan's son, but she falls in love with a slave at court, and the Sultan's son prefers men anyway. The Sultan's daughter, Afshideh, is also in love with the slave, but she doesn't say anything, knowing it is forbidden. The Indian princess is forced to marry the Sultan's son, but she and the slave continue their illicit love affair, the Sultan's son not really caring, but then he catches them together, and begins to lust after the slave. Yes, the slave is a man. He seperates them after pushing her down the stairs and forcing her to miscarry her baby by the slave and ... corners the slave and wants the slave to... do things that only people are in love should do, and the slave refuses and spits on the Sultan's son. The son becomes enraged and orders the slave put to death, but when he is lined up to be shot with bow and arrow, Purnima stabs herself with a sword because of grief for her love at the same time as the Sultan's daughter throws herself in front of him and dies for him. The Sultan's son weeps for his sister, whom he cared deeply for, and the slave sees Purnima kill herself and dies of a broken heart."
*She explained, suddenly realizing that a child might not like all the death and doomed love, let alone understand it.*

Teddy blinked. "Wait, so, like, it's about how everybody in Persia loves that slave? That's... interesting."
A lot of the story did seem foreign to him. How do you miscarry a baby? Do you hold it upside down or something? And Teddy had never heard of a man loving a man before. That was really weird.

*She shook her head.*
"It's about love being blind. Purnima is vain and selfish, and only sees the beauty of the slave, not the fact that he only views her as a conquest. Afshideh, the sister, is mousy and naive, like all other supporting female roles, and the ugly, mean-spirited son is really the victim of the whole thing." *She said.*

"Wait, so the sultan's son loves a man? How does that work?"

((I say katie has gone off to attend to fighting twins, or some such thing.))
*She sighed.*
"There are some men in this world who aren't like your dad and my dad, men who don't fall in love with women. They still fall in love, but they do it with other men who like men, instead. There are women who are the same way." *She explained. Katie was down with the rainbow, she only hoped that she wouldn't mind her giving Teddy the 'all different kinds of people in this world' talk.*

Teddy nodded thoughtfully. "Okay. So, what's a miscarriage?" he asked, storing the information he had just received in the back of his mind.

"Get used to it kid, it's your DESTINY."
*She thought.*
"Well, it's when a woman is pregnant and the baby gets born too early and isn't able to live." *She said.*

"Ohhh, okay." He paused. "But you said it's the slave's baby? But the princess wasn't married to the slave! I thought people could only have babies when they're married."
