*Sylvia did as she was told, still in shock at being out of Thatcher's villa and back in Paris. It was too much to believe. She almost couldn't. She feared that at any moment she would awake next to her captor and her vision would start itself all over again. She sucked her lip idly, vaguely aware that this might hurt.*

*He took out a syringe, and took hold of her arm. Coldly, clinically, he injected the substance, then put the syringe away*
"You may want to lie down."

"Lie down?"
*The words seem to confuse her for a moment but she started for the bed. She swooned slightly, catching herself on the vanity and pausing before trying again. One hand lifted to her forehead.*

*Seeing her like this softened Crane a considerable amount. He sat down beside her, taking her hand*
"How do you feel?"

*Even feeling as she did, his touch was a comfort.*
"A little...sick. And disoriented."
*She made it to the bed, resting against it, but never letting go of him.*
"How...how long will it take?"

"A few hours."
*He sighed*
"Sylvia..."

*She shut her eyes, trying to focus and not shudder at the sound of his voice. That cold voice that had tormented her so many nights.*
"What is it?" *She whispered.*

"Why did you leave me?"

*She stared at him for a moment, the memories flooding through her mind.*
"Leave you? I didn't..."
*She grew quiet.*
"You...left me."
*Her eyes fell.*
"I know why you were angry...but truly...I didn't remember. That Haitian doctor..."

"I stayed with you while you bore another man's child. When you woke, you claimed not to know who I was."
*His voice was free of any emotion, which was somehow even more telling.*

*Her throat tightened, knowing the pain that she had caused, not that she had meant to or even known what she had done at the time. She was silent, but touched the back of his hand cautiously, worried about the underlying issues that had yet to be dealt with.*
"I didn't." *She sighed, unsure of how to make him understand.*
"I didn't remember anything, not of you or my ordeals here. Nothing since my first night in Paris."
*She squeezed his hand gently.*
"I would never mean to hurt you like that. Not after all that you have done. I...I am sorry."

*He turned away from her*
"I'm not here for revenge. I've already gotten that, though it wasn't on purpose. You surely didn't think anyone else could have manufactured a plauge of fear, did you?"
*Oddly, he started to caress her cheek as he spoke*
"It was my idea, though the woman was the one who spread it. I didn't know it would get you."

*She flinched instinctively at his touch, but nuzzled back against him.*
"I know now...it makes perfect sense, but..."
*She held her hand over his as he touched her.*
"Even for all the pain...I am glad that it did. It was the only thing that brought your memory back to me."

*He leaned over, cradeling her head in his hands*
"Sylvia...you don't know how much I've thought about you. Every screaming inmate, every patient who cried for mercy, every victim who shrieked with fear- none could block out the sound of your voice in my mind."

*Her eyes softened, a smile of tenderness reaching her lips at the oddly romantic words.*
"Then...we shared that fate, my love. I...saw you everywhere, your voice haunted me without reprieve."
*She lifted her hand to caress his cheek gently.*
"You found me...even trapped as I was."
