*Sylvia eyed him suspiciously, clutching it to her chest.*
"No."
*She looked a bit sheepish.*
"Just...tell me why it's important to you. I believe you...I just...he'll ask."

((Dude, mental image of Dracula as Tia Dalma and Sylvia as Jack is bad. Very bad. So bad it is gooooood.))
"That dirt isn't just dirt, it's dirt from the Carpathian mountains, my homeland."
*Dracula leaned back again and casually looked if there was any dirt under his finger nails.*
"I can only sleep in a coffin, or bed that has that dirt in it. And I must sleep when the sun comes up and I am not at home I must need that dirt to make a resting place."

*Sylvia looked at the dirt once more, deep in thought.*
"So...how would this ensure my safety? Certain it gives others power over you, but if you..."
*She lowered her gaze.*
"...take advantage of the situation, I hardly see how this will help me."

"That there is the only bag of my special dirt in the whole of France. The only other place where I could find the dirt is at my home and even there it is not in large quantities."
*Dracula put his hand on his leg.*
"So I would need that if my enemies would ever plan to destroy me and I would need to escape."

So it doesn't protect me.
*Sylvia pursed her lips.*
"This night...hypothetically...where would you...have her? I mean..."
Would it have to be at the castle?

"We could have it on neutral grounds, so that neither of us would have the advantage."
*Dracula said as he thought he felt Sylvia getting nervous.*
"The Opera perhaps."

*Sylvia looked up suddenly in confusion.*
The Opera? In public? I mean...
"Do they rent rooms?"
*Her words were slightly sarcastic, but mostly intrigued. So added quickly.*
"And you will swear to not visit my dreams until then?"

All we need is a pillar.
"You'd be surprised what they did at the Opera."
*Dracula replied with a glint of emotion in his eyes.*
"I swear on my own grave, I will not visit your dreams until then."

*It was a terrible situation to be in. Sylvia knew it. But there seemed little choice. At least pitting the men against each other...there would be hope. There had to be. She sighed and stood, offering her hand.*
"All right. Help me with Mondego...and I will give you your night at the Opera."
*She swallowed hard.*

*Dracula smiled and slowly rose to his feet.*
"Then it's settled. Now, if I am to help, you might want to tell my why this Mondego haunts you."
*Dracula stepped closer to Sylvia and tilted his head, as if here were examining her closely.*
"What did you do to deserve his hate?"

*Sylvia withdrew her hand and turned away quickly, suddenly feeling very exposed.*
"I...He...there was a bit of a misunderstanding. Many events led up to it, I guess."
*She half-looked back to him, sadness in her eyes.*
"I'm afraid that we were a bit ill-suited for each other, even when we have so much in common. He...he's a count, visiting Paris. Without his wife. Times were different then...I was different then..."
I wasn't attached or in love.

*Dracula was surprised to see this side of Sylvia, such sadness and maybe even a hint of melancholy, it didn't suit her at all.*
"You were lovers then, I suppose. What happened?"

*Sylvia's face hardened and she turned to face him, her eyes cold.*
"No, we were not lovers. Not like that. Apparently he did not understand the nature of my profession at the time. He did something...rather stupid."
*She sucked her lip.*
"He branded his initials into my ankle."

Cool. This totally sounds like my kind of guy.
"A costumer who did not follow the rules, fascinating."
*Dracula lowered his gaze to Sylvia's naked ankles and then looked back up at here.*
"His mark no longer decorates your flesh. You had it removed."

*Sylvia straightened with indignation.*
"I did. It was not his right to take such things without asking. I'm sure that a man like yourself is accustomed to running into such issues. People taking your taking poorly."
*She shifted her gaze.*
"Well, it turned out that he took the removal of it...rather poorly. Surely you would feel the same way. Is that not enough of a reason for him to hate me?"
I rather not go into the part about being in love with someone else. Or how I sort of killed him.
