*Crane took her hand*
"You don't have to leave. If being away causes you so much discomfort, I see no reason why you should continue."

*Sylvia squeezed his hand and turned to look up to him with sad sympathy in her eyes.*
"But my being here causes you discomfort. And I don't want that. I...never wanted that."
*Her gaze fell and she sighed gently.*

"No, it's not your presence that causes me worry. ANd perhaps our separation does more harm than good."
*He looked back at her*
"The dream that bothered you...was Mondego in it?"

*Sylvia looked up at him, confusion etched in her features.*
"I...um...yes. He..."
*She lowered her eyes once more.*
"It's not important. It was just a dream. He is dead, after all."

"Of course."
*He wiped his glasses*
"So did mine."

*Sylvia's brow furrowed.*
"But...how?"
*She shook her head.*
"Surely it is merely coincidence. Perhaps because...his death was so recent?"

"Perhaps."
*Crane smiled, but it was an uncomfortable smile, as if remembering something unpleasent*

*Sylvia studied his face. Something wasn't right. There was...discomfort there? That was odd. He was always so calm, his expression cold in his displeasure. This was...foreign. She took his hand gently, the other stroking his cheek, looking up to him with concern.*
"My love...are you all right? What vexes you?"

"I'm fine. Just remembering the dream."
*He adjusted hi glasses*
"I'd rather not talk about it."

*Sylvia's concern deepened, but she pursed her lips and nodded.*
"I understand."
*She kissed him gently, trying to silently tell him that she was there for him.*
"If you change your mind..."
*She smiled and touched his cheek.*
What could have been so horrible that he won't tell me?
*She drew her shawl away from her shoulders and turned to toss it on the bed. There were faint red marks ringing her pale throat. She started to loosen her dress to change for work.*

"It is funny, that he should be in both our dreams."
*Crane seemed to be thinking aloud*
"The collective unconscious, perhaps."

"Perhaps. Maybe I was just trying to reach out to you. I did miss you terribly."
*She slipped her dress over her shoulders and onto the floor. Loosening her corset, her ribs expanded and there was the impression of the fabric and eyelets left behind. But those faded quickly, leaving behind a large FM welt in her back.*
"But you are right...very strange."

"Wait a moment..."
*Crane placed his cool hands on her skin*
"What is that on your back?"

*Sylvia turned back to him with a confused look. She tried in vain to glimpse what he meant, running her hands over the skin as best as she could.*
"What is it?"

Perhaps I should not have told her.
*Reluctanltly, Crane handed her a mirror*
