*Sylvia smiled wickedly and shoved him back against the bed, running her tongue over her teeth.*
“I am not sure which would be the bigger compliment.”
*She kissed him deeply.*
“But what benefit would I have in lying to you?”

"Well", *he responded, pulling her down on top of him*, "that would depend on who you worked for. Mondego, Caine, even an old vigilante I knew back in America. Any of them would give you reasons."
*He kicked off his shoes*
"But if you're lying, I don't mind it."

*Sylvia sucked her lip. He had a point. A really good one. She sighed lightly and pressed against him, looking for some comfort.*
“I’ve always considered myself in business for myself, but recently…I feel like I’m slipping away. It’s like I’m only a shadow of who I used to be.”

*He held her gently to him, as if to protect her*
"Not to sound egocentric, but I hope it's not because of me."

*Sylvia shook her head against him, pulling at the fabric of his shirt.*
“No…not you.”
*She peeked up at him from behind her lashes.*
“You’re the only thing that makes me want to remember my old self, the one that was confident and never worried. When I’m with you…I feel like everything will be all right. At least someday.”

*Crane couldn't help smiling at that. Usually, he made people frightened, rather than confident.*
"I'm glad to be of service."
*He kissed her on the brow, his hand unlacing her corset.*

*Sylvia pushed herself up for a moment, looking him in the eye. Her gaze was thoughtful, like she just realized something.*
“I want to be that way again. Do you think it will ever be possible? With so many chains on me? I only want to be free again.”

"Mondego will be dealt with. As for Caine..."
*He thought for a moment, then smiled sweetly*
"There's a man who seems to know what happened to him. Perhaps he could reassure you."

*Sylvia tried to smile, but she couldn’t shake her sense of foreboding at the thought of Thatcher. His bracelet at her wrist and necklace at her throat seemed to smother her. The addition of Mondego’s key made her feel like she was disappearing. She swallowed and looked up to him curious.*
“How would he do that?”

"His name is Hannibal Lecter" *he replied.* "He's a colleuge of mine, and he has access to more information than I do."
*He reached up and gently removed the necklace.*

*Sylvia looked panicked for a moment as he reached up to her neck. She was conflicted. She wanted to be free, but she knew how dangerous it was for Thatcher to not see his claim on her. Was he watching them, even here? She caught his hand as he lowered it from her throat. She whispered with a hint of desperation.*
“Please…it’s dangerous to tempt fate. His eyes are everywhere.”

*Crane paused for a moment. Then he handed it to Sylvia*
"Do as you wish."

*She took it from him, looking a bit more relieved, but she couldn’t bring herself to refasten it. Sylvia sighed against him, trying to think about something else.*
“Please, sir…tell me about this man. This doctor you know. What does he know?”

"He is a rather mysterious type. He became aware that Mr. Caine was interested in his files, and, he gave me reason to believe, he has dealt with the situation."
*Jonathan Crane sighed*
"I wish there was something I could do to relieve your mind."

*Sylvia pressed her body up again, resting on her elbows, her hands on his chest. She looked him in the eye with a bit of sadness.*
“Tell me that you believe me. That you know that I’m not lying to you when I say that I want only you.”
*She searched his eyes, looking for something. Couldn’t he read her honesty?*
“I need you to believe me.”
