*She shrugged*
"I guess. I killed a hell of a lot of people to get to him, though. And he never told me about his brother."

"His brother must have been Judge Turpin, then." He took a breath before starting. "Your mother and I were very happy together with you. I had a successful business, your mother had a nice home, and we had a beautiful little girl. But Turpin changed that. He and his disgusting friend, Beadle Bamford, wanted Lucy. They had me arrested for a crime that I did not commit and then had their way with her on the dance floor of a masked ball.
"Lucy tried to commit suicide by swallowing poison, but, unfortunately, she survived and lost her mind. The poor thing roamed the streets, begging for money and offering pleasure.
"I came back to London fifteen years later to find that the judge had taken everything. My neighbor, Mrs. Lovett, told me that my wife had died. So I vowed... I vowed that I would kill the men responsible, along with anyone who got in my way!
"Long story short, they did die, along with many innocents, who were baked into meat pies by Mrs. Lovett.
"I... Your mother... It was a dreadful thing. Since I thought she was dead, I didn't recognize the beggar woman as her. She was in my shop, and Mrs. Lovett was calling for help... It all happened so fast, and when I realized..." He stopped. By this point he was near tears. He hung his head both out of shame and to hide his emotion.

*The Bride listened to his story solemly*
"I can't cast the first stone. You've been through so much."

He smiled sadly. "And so have you. If only none of this had happened. Maybe we'd be together and happy." And I'd still be human, his mind added bitterly.

*She sighed*
"I remember what Bill said to me before I killed him. He told me that I was a natural born killer, and nothing I could do would change that. Sometimes I think he's right."
