*Freya was calm and collected, and chuckled with laughter. She wonder how much love a goddess as territorial as this one really was capable of feeling. A goddess that was not tolerant and with capability to share had serious flaws in Freya's eyes. In her own territory, they had always been tolerant to other gods. It was just the Christians within the territory who didn't have that tolerance.*
"The Roman soldiers capturing France was not necessarily believers of the Greek Cult. They took over the Greek gods and turned them into Roman gods, giving them other names. If I remember correctly, you were renamed Venus. And even if the Romans did capture France, there are no proof that the population started praying to the Greek gods. There are no proof for that."
*She met Aphrodite's eyes calmly.*
"You accuse me of being a goddess of a warlike nation. And yet you seem to know very little of my people, or the reasons they were warlike. A goddess of love should show understanding and compassion. But the only warlike behavior I have met in this place - is yours."

"I haven't accused you of anything. I've commented, I've observed. I may have been renamed, worshiped under another name, but it doesn't change the fact that the entire Roman empire was expected to pay tribute to me. And I'm quite aware where I was and wasn't worshiped--and trust me, I was worshiped in France. You'd be surprised how willing humans are to accept new gods."
*Her eyes narrowed.* "Don't make assumptions about my character, either. Spreading rainbows and love and flowers all the time doesn't exactly encourage respect."

*Freya only laughed.*
"I know perfectly well that new gods are accepted by humans. In my society, we were open to welcome everyone. So unlike this place....
As for spreading rainbows and love and flowers.... I am a goddess of love, sexuality and fertility. I have no problem doing my work. As long as my people are happy, so am I."
*She looked over at Aphrodite, her bright blue eyes glittering with humor.*
"What exactly is your problem, lady? Are you afraid I will take over your territory? That the people here will start worshiping me?"

"Your 'work' isn't limited to seducing every nubile girl that passes your way, in case you hadn't noticed." *She said, raising an eyebrow.* "And evidently you also haven't noticed that nobody worships either of us here--this is Paris, and this is the 19th century. Just stay out of my circles--it doesn't do to alarm the inhabitants of a city outside of our time periods."
*Aphrodite moved closer.* "You're being flagrantly indiscreet--and the big guys have sent me. The ones in charge of all of us--not just the Greek or Norse. Don't pull the 'look at me, I'm so scintillatingly sophisticated and holier-than-thou' crap on me--I got over that a few centuries ago. Just watch yourself--because the big guys are certainly watching you."
((The way her universe looks like all the different mythos of gods coexist, but there's a power that exists above them all that sort of makes the rules.))

Freya looked at Aphrodite with a raised eyebrow, slightly amused.
"Now who is making assumptions about other people's characters? If you don't want anyone to do that to you, you should keep away from doing that to others. You don't know a damn thing about me, no matter how high and mighty you think you are. I don't care much for your attitude, lady. If you want me to respect you, you should behave in a way that would want me to respect you.
Attacking and spreading wild assumptions and accusations around is not the proper way to win my respect. So far I have not seen one inch of the "love goddess" you claim to be. If you want me to believe you actually are a love goddess...."
*She turned around and looked Aphrodite right in the eyes*
"....you'd better prove it."

"I don't give a damn about your opinion of me. What I care about is whether you throw this universe into chaos--and the big guys think you're in danger of it. Don't piss them off."

Freya laughed again. She noticed that the other woman was starting to get aggressive, and she was slightly amused over it. The woman who claimed she wasn't looking for a fight and still provoked the love goddess of a nation of warriors...
Freya chuckled with laughter and looked over at Aphrodite, replying sweetly.
"In case you haven't noticed, little one... I have taken care of... big... guys before. I have never been afraid of a man. No matter how powerful he claims to be."

"I was sent to warn you, can you not get that through your thick, empty skull? What you consider 'taking on big guys', in which you supposedly have experience, is child's play compared to what I'm talking about. This universe has to have order, and that requires subtlety on our part. So don't go around pretending you're oh-so-powerful and sophisticated when you're traipsing around Paris, circa 1890, in a cat-drawn golden chariot. Oh yes, I saw it. And there was a hell of a lot of work for the rest of us because some--and by some I mean a lot--of the locals noticed."

Freya laughed again.
"Assumptions, assumptions..." she mocked. "Thick, empty skull? I never thought I should hear a goddess of love stoop to character assassinations. You sound more like a war goddess to me, because there is no love in you that I can see. Are you aware what you sound like? You should have heard yourself. I will not sink down to your level by attacking your personality. You have clearly proven yourself of what you are anyways. As for the oh-so-powerful-pretending: You were the one that started the moment I came in here claiming I should get out of your "territory". And you claim that I pretend to be powerful? Next time you start criticizing others, take a good hard look at yourself in the mirror first."

*Brandi did her best not to panic. But at the same time, she figured now might be a good time to get lost if push was going to come to shove or worse...if there was going to be love mojo flung about, she didn't want to be in the near proximity. Discretely she slipped upstairs to make sure Cry-Baby wasn't either. Just to be careful.*
