*He pulled her into his arms, trying to soothe what only time could soothe*
"God only knows. How such monsters can even roam the earth as freely as they do is beyond me."

"I- I don't know how to tell you..."

"You don't have to tell me. I wouldn't make you re-live that trauma yet again."

"You said telling yours helped..."

"I did...but mine is some time in the past. Yours is a fresh horror...but, if you feel that you can..."
*She was a strong woman, after all. He should give her a chance*

"I don't know..."
*She sat silently for a moment*
"Do you- do you believe in creatures of the night? I mean, aside from the reanimated ones who wear gold speedos and sing."

((*splorfle*))
*He furrowed his brow a moment, but then the lines slowly smoothed back out*
"Do you mean...things of the occult?"

"Yes. Vampires, specifically."
*She wrung her hands*
"He- the man who kidnapped me- he did things to me. He touched me, made me dance across a floor covered in the blood of people he'd killed. But he couldn't manage to-"
*She collected herself*
"And he sent another man in- after the man had paid him, I think. A vampire."

*Victor was a man of science, and of logic, and had never given much credence to such stories as there were about vampires, werewolves and the like. Particularly now, as the knew that such things could be creations of man, not the supernatural.
The other things she described, and her distress, were quite real. He covered her hands with his, trying to calm her*
"I can't imagine...such horrors as those."
*He considered voicing his disbelief that one of her attackers was a vampire, but discarded it. There was time later for that*

*She leaned against him, fighting back a tear*
"He stripped me...bit my throat so that the blood ran down my chest, then he...he licked it off my body."
*She shuddered*

*He had to suppress a shudder of disgust. Certainly, he had seen blood in his time, but one had to be out of there mine to want to taste of it.
He almost fiercely held her in his arms*
"Sick...utterly sick..."

*Mira no longer bothered to keep from crying*
"And then...and then he raped me."

*His blood ran cold at her words, and found that he couldn't really say anything to that--whatever came out wouldn't be enough. Instead, he simply held her in his arms, letting her cry for as long as she needed to*

*She sobbed for a bit, comforted by the feel of Victor's arms about her. She fought back memories that swept through her mind of Daniel*
"And I deserved it, for not turning in my last love when he did it to another. It's justice come back to me..."

"No."
*Victor said, his voice stern*
"No woman ever deserves that."
