*Brandi jogged over with a smile.*
"Count me in!"
*Genghis took a firmer grip on Emily's wrist, but looked to the newcomer before pulling her up. He appeared a bit perplexed. Paris seemed overrun by women.*

"Kris!" *Emily cried out, grinning.* "This is Genghis!" *she pointed.* "The one I was telling you about!"
*She was nearly bursting with relief.*
"Genghis, this is Kris. She's just like me. Sorta. With the powers and things."

*Genghis offered his hand, now slick with paint, to the new girl. At the rest of her comments, he looked to Emily, eyebrow arched.*
She's been talking about me? To another like herself?
"It is an honor, my lady."
*Brandi shook her head slightly, noticing that Emily hadn't mentioned her sueauthor status to Khan. Maybe it was for the best though.*

*Emily caught Brandi's look and rolled her eyes.*
"For heaven's sake, he's YOURS!" *she hissed.* "Me trying to set you up with him would be worse than my marrying Nadir."

*Brandi looked aghast. That certainly wasn't what she wanted. She tugged Emily aside and whispered to her.*
"Hey, I didn't know that was the goal for the meeting of Kris. You trying to pawn him off?"
*Genghis just looked confused, staring at the two girls whispering and then back to Kris. Then realization hit him. He swelled in rage and approached Brandi with determination, catching her by the throat and forcing her against the wall of the shed. His words came out in a hiss.*
"Yours? Yours?! Like Nadir and Mitra? What is this?"
*Brandi could only choke and tug helplessly at his strong fingers. As her eyes rolled, she could only manage one thought.*
War would be laughing his ass off at this.

*Kris blinked, taken aback by Emily's over-boisterous introduction.*
"My pleasure," *she said smoothly, though Genghis wasn't really her type either and anyway it was all moot when he went after Brandi.*
"Hey!" *she said loudly.* "Put her down right now!"
*She glared at Brandi, too, in the hopes that she could exert some control over her character.*

"Hey, hey, hey, whoa, put her the fuck down," *Emily growled, her eyes narrowing dangerously.*

*Genghis rolled his eyes beneath closed lids before releasing Brandi who rubbed her neck instinctively. He turned back to Emily with a half-scoff.*
"So is that why you failed to mention her powers when you introduced us? What is she? My kennel master, my hand of Fate?"
*Brandi tried to stay very still. She had learned that just because you controlled a character didn't mean that it was a good idea to make them all uncanon-y. Things had a tendency to backfire.*

Great. Character gone rogue. When Nadir does this, he just gives me unexpected hugs. Nice one, Brandi.
*Unfortunately, Brandi's common sense did nothing to curb Emily's response.*
"Who the hell do you think you are? Did you ever, for one moment in your LIFE, believe that you had complete sovereignity over your actions? That there weren't bigger forces at work, whatever form they might take? That there was no such thing as fate, or destiny, or God, or Mother Earth, or Father Time, or some kind of purpose for you?"
*Now, her nostrils were flaring as she snapped, her voice rising with every sentance.*
"Every person in this world is dancing to the tune of their own personal creator and master. Every one of us, Genghis." *she gestured to herself and the other two women.*
"Me, Kris, Brandi...we just seem to BE these creators, somehow put here in physical form."
*Her voice got quieter as she spoke. She closed her eyes as if she was tired and rubbed a paint-y hand over her forehead.*
"I don't know why. And at any given time we can only see half of the puzzle. We can't control what we are any more than you can. So there comes a time when you have to realize you aren't all-powerful, suck it up, and life goes on despite this."
((*cracks knuckles* I love the smell of rants in the morning.))

*Genghis bristled as her voice raised. How dare she? But he stayed his hand from smacking her hard in the jaw. There were three of them after all, and that wasn't good odds. When she finished he stared at her, his eyes burning in rage at such a suggestion. His voice was dangerously low.*
"If that is the case..."
*He shifted his gaze to Brandi.*
"You won't mind if we adjourn to a private discussion on the nature of Fate and the rules of this...place."

*Emily glanced at Brandi, then nodded slowly to Genghis.*
"If you hurt her, we'll know," *she warned him, going to the door.* "Come on, Kris."

*Genghis bowed in acknowledgment of her warning, but did not look terribly concerned. He turned to Brandi, who straightened a bit with anxiousness. He gestured to the door.*
"Perhaps we should take a walk."
*Brandi swallowed nervously and glanced once more to Emily and Kris before setting her face in resolve and nodding. She led him out of the shed at out onto the hill out back.*

*Emily and Kris went back to the kitchen.*
"I should probably take a shower," *she remarked, heading to one of the rooms upstairs.*

***NEW DAY***
*Brandi worked diligently, cleaning out the shed (which was rather large, like a small barn) of all its odds and ends. She had this goal, a motive, to turn it into a small gym. Nothing much but a place that she could work that wasn't under the constant eye of War and Ashur. She had covered the bike with a tarp and rolled it outside before whipping up some fresh pant. And so here she was, coating every surface with a nice cool grey. Relaxing. Kinda Zen, as it were.*
