*Faye stiffened at the sound of his voice from beyond the door and wiped her damp cheeks with the back of her hand.*
"Come in," *she said quietly.*
It's not like her can see me... *she comforted herself, allowing herself to slump into a miserable posture.*

*Aimery opened the door. There was no one there. He sighed gently, there was just no getting used to something like that.*
I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to…please forgive me…I hope you can really hear me…I need you to understand…please understand…please forgive me…

"No, I'm sorry...I didn't think...I didn't think it would matter so much. Of course I frightened you. I'm sorry," *she replied.*

*Aimery kept his head lowered shyly as he took a few steps inside.*
I’m sorry…I was in the wrong. I was just…surprised. I’ve never met… anyone like you before. Do you…live here?

*Faye hesitated a long moment before speaking.*
"...I...I did."

*Aimery could have kicked himself.*
I’m sorry; I didn’t mean to be so thoughtless. This is your home; I didn’t mean to intrude so rudely, the weather was just…May I…stay?

*Faye shook her head.*
"It's not...it's not mine anymore. I just...exist. I don't have anything anymore. If you wish to stay, I can't and won't stop you. If my presence does bother you, I can go. You live. The inn's of more use to you than it will ever be to me."

*Aimery felt as if his heart would break. He took a few steps closer and lowered himself to the floor. He looked up to the window sadly.*
Please don’t say that. Of course your opinion matters. You must be here for a reason. And I respect you as a person. That’s like saying I am not a person because I can’t speak. And no…you don’t bother me. I would very much like your company. If…you don’t mind.

*Faye peered down into Aimery's earnest face, still shaking her head.*
"But I'm NOT a person!" *her voice cracked a little.* "And I don't know why I'm here! When people died I thought they went to Heaven!"
*She paused, then smiled a little.*
"I like having you here. There are ghosts everywhere, but I still don't feel like I belong with them. Living is all I know, still. I don't feel so alone, having you around."

*Aimery smiled gently.*
It’s nice not to be alone. I feel that I am a lot…since I can’t contribute to conversation. It’s so strange…to talk to someone. I guess it makes you more of a person than anyone I’ve ever been around.

*Faye hugged her knees to her chest and rested her chin on her knees.*
"I suppose you might know what it's like to be a ghost..."

*Aimery lowered his head again and bit his lip.*
It is like that…
*He looked up in realization.*
What is your name? I’m sorry, I just realized that I was so rude as to not ask.

*Faye laughed.*
"Faye. My name was...is...Faye."

*Aimery liked her laugh. It made him smile wider.*
Faye…like a faerie. How beautiful…
*He turned away for a moment.*
Faye…may I come sit by you?

*Faye turned and sat properly on the seat, dropping her feet to the floor. She blushed and was glad not to be seen for the moment.*
"If you like..." *she said softly, moving to make room on the window seat. She tugged at the curtain on one side, making it twitch.*
"I'm here."
