*House stopped her and grabbed the file away from her roughly.*
"If this is going to make you whine for the rest of you life, fine," *he said, opening the slide doors.* "But this is a mistake."
*House entered the room, turned on a lightboard and hung the X-ray of the patient's lungs. After doing so, he looked at Renn for a bried second before speaking.*
"You're dying..." *he paused to look at the file for her name,* "Eponine, and there's nothing we can do. It's advanced TB."
*House stood there (just as awkward as he was the last time he told someone they were dying) and waited for all the crying that was bound to happen.*

*Cuddy, passing by in the hallway, heard, cringed, but kept on walking.*

Fitz looked at House. "How long?" he asked.

**RENN**
"A few hours. Six, at best," *Renn said, trying to keep all emotion out of her voice.*

He nodded and squeezed Aimee's hand, unsure of what to say.

*Eponine smiled weakly from where she was propped up on pillows, an odd calm on her face, a serenity that had rarely touched her, though she was barely able to breathe.*
*Aimee squeezed Fitz's hand and rested her head on his shoulder, having accepted her mother's fate, but then went and hugged Renn around her legs.*
*Eponine looked at the awkward scene.* "I hate it when my friends act gloomy." *She said weakly, feeling much like the last time she had been dying, except without the gunshot wounds.* "Don't worry about me." *She choked, air not coming easily anymore.*

Suddenly, Fitz had an idea. "Miss Renn! Can't you hook her up to a ventilator? You know, to give her more time?" he asked, his black eyes pleading.

*She looked at Renn and she looked at Fitz, shaking her head.*
"No... I don't want to buy any more time. What little I have left was stolen in the first place." *She gasped in pain, her chest burning because she was wasting air.*

"But, Eponine, your daughter... your family!"
*She knew that Eponine was right. There was no need to prolong her suffering, but it wasn't fair! Someone so young shouldn't die. It wasn't right.! She nodded nonetheless.*
"If... If that's what you want..."

*Eponine smiled weakly.*
"My family's here, and I know Fitz will take good care of Aimee."
*She was hurt that Marius wasn't there, because he was part of her family, too. But she understood that he had other things to attend to. And that he couldn't walk.*
*She caughed violently again, tears leaking out of the corners of her eyes because of the stabe of pain running through her chest.*

Fitz nodded. "I promise I will." He took a deep breath. "You really are an amazing person."

*She smiled weakly at Aimee and reached out weakly to her.*
Come to me, Meesette, the light is fading Don't you see the evening star appearing? Come to me, and rest against my shoulder How fast the minutes fly away and every minute colder. Hurry near, another day is dying Don't you hear, the winter wind is crying? There's a darkness which comes without a warning But I will sing you lullabyes and wake you in the morning.
*Aimee had walked silently up and leaned her head on her mother's shoulder, holding her hand tightly.*
