Diana faltered a bit under the weight of her haul.
"Since you run this place now..." Diana shifted her pile to one arm, took his cane out of his hand then dumped everything into his arms. "I assume you'll be doing all the paper work--billings, filings and all," she says coolly.
Diana took his cane and put it on top of the stack and quickly walked out to check on the patient.

*Briefly scanning the books on Hannibal's shelf, Crane comes upon the first edition of (insert name of random rare book prized by villians)*
"I killed for that once", *he said, in a tone that made it impossible to tell whether or not he was joking*

*Hannibal smiled and walked over to the shelf, removing the book and handing it to Crane.*
“Really? Mine cost an arm and a leg. But it was worth it. How does yours compare in condition? I’m afraid mine was damaged, but I could not find another copy.”
*He looked up, interested.*

*Looks it over carefully*
"Yours is better, although I am satisfied with mine. I must say, the previous owner had not treated it with the care it deserved."

*Hannibal sighed lightly.*
“I have found that there are few that do. It has been a long time since I have had the pleasure of meeting someone with an interest in books. Do you have a library here as well?”

"I have a collection, although oI'm still in the process of unpacking. I am a bit of a scholar in my feild, although it demands some practical research."

*Hannibal tilted his head in interest.*
“Do you have any subjects in mind for such research? I admit that the field sounds most intriguing. You are the first specialist I have met with that particular focus.”

*Hannibal allowed the thought to gestate.*
“Fascinating. I did not know that Paris had such a dark, yet organized, underbelly. If you are agreeable, at some point I should very much like to observe you in your studies. With the patient’s consent of course.”
*He patiently waited for an answer.*

“I am thankful for the opportunity. I’m sure it will prove most insightful. Is there anything I can offer you to show my gratitude?”
